TV license - who pays?

My 2 flatmates and I got a letter recently stating that the TV licence people are investigating our area. We don't have a license at the moment but the TV actually belongs to the landlady. The letter said that it's not necessarily the owner of the TV who has to pay the license but it's still a bit ambiguous as we only live there 9 months of the year.

    Who should pay then?

    Thanks in advance!

    Rented accommodation

If you are a tenant living in rented accommodation with a television you must have a television licence. This applies irrespective of who owns the television (i.e., if the television belongs to you or the landlord). The law states that anyone resident on a premises in possession of a television set must have a television licence.

Simply if you don't want to pay give her back the telly!
