The 160 Gb HD's in Aldi

    Anyone seen these, spotted them today, Samsung 160GB 7200 2MB cache
    Couldn't see a price and none of the staff knew, nothing on their website either. Anyone know what price they are ?

    Bring one up to the til and say you want to buy it. They'll come up with a price... then change your mind ;)

    They're just being lazy not bothering to find out from what I can see...

    I'd avoid samsung, many of their drives have died on my, within weeks of being replaced(had no choice of a different make to get replaced)

    FWIW, my experience of Samsung drives is totally different. I've had 4 drives running heavy duty (constant r/w) for 4years without a problem, 12 or 13 running constantly spun up, but not always r/w'ing, for at least 4 years, and 1 in my xbox which doesn't get too much use.

    I purchased one of these when they went on offer a few weeks back...i think it was approx. €99?

    Anyways, its up and running ..so far so good.

    ciaranfo: these were encased in a plastic box with a laptop to stop people walking off with them anyway was kinda busy.

    Ricardo: these were near me, Thurles, Co. Tipp they had about 4 left
    might take another look today.

    You should have told them you wanted to buy it anyway, and they'd have gone and taken it out of the box and then they'd have to find a price :)

    EUR 109.99

    in galway at least, still a few left, but Komplett are cheap for WD drives same, size, 8Mb buffer.

    I wonder which is quieter though. Those WD can be noisy.
