Posted at another forum i goto.
The following pictures are of a ufo (and by that I mean I don't know what type of flying object this is : ) I was at a friends house and we were grilling out Friday night. I happened to actually have my camera out (a digital kodak easyshare) becuase they have a baby the same age as my nin month old and they were playing together, so of course my wife had to get pictures. There were 4 of us in the back yard when we saw it. We all saw the same thing. A low flying object appear out if nowhere. The sape of the object was triangular and seemed to be shiny and metallic. You can't see it too well in the pictures due to the bright continuous flame that shot out the back and even propelled what seemed to be small fire bombs out the each side. It was very slow moving and made zigzagging type figure 8 movements. The whole thing lasted for about 15-20 seconds till either it went away or the fire trail went out and we just couldn't see it. Any thoughts?

In my opinion, I thought it could be Ball Lightning.

Looks very cool, whatever it was. Wish I had seen it. It's very hard to see the object in the pics as you say, but if there was definitely something shiney and metallic then ball lightning or fireworks are ruled out. Although... it is getting close to Halloween now, maybe it is some kind of new firework gizmo.

The second picture is the clearest, you can see the object and what looks like 4 flames coming out the back. I would be thinking they are the afterburners of a military plane. Did the poster on the other forum say where they were taken?

Judging by the mount of camera shake they were taken by a low end digital camera nearly any bright light source taken by a digital camera with a slow shutter speed exhibits the same response.

The one photo where cloud outline can be seen is the best image from a small amount of hand held camera shake point of view.

I witnessed virtually the same phenomena in the u.k. It was a RAF Tornado dumping fuel and igniting it with its after burners, absolutely a spectacular sight to witness. Obviously witnessd from a few miles away it would look highly unusual leading to folks claiming a UFO etc.

p.s. if a fully fuel / weapons laden combat jet needs to land again quickly they need to dump fuel as an operational precaution. Passenger jets usually dump fuel over the sea in an emergency but without afterburners o ignite the fuel no one ever notices.

A friend told me that his brother was in the offaly area coming back from Carlow that night. He described the exact same things as in the photograph. They were in a place called killy and there was a traffic jam with people looking up in awe.

Well I guess it IS an unidentified flying object but probably not aliens:)

    Looks very impressive though.
