    CNBC is free.
    CNN you need a cam
FOX you need a cam and a card

The Orbit package is supposedly very good for US tv with lots of live programming from the US (e.g. news, morning shows, espn, cnbc usa)
They now broadcast from intelsat1002 at 1w so it should be possible to receive on a 80cm dish in most of Ireland. They do a lot of english language
programming and can legally sell subscriptions anywhere of europe.
    See http://www.orbit.net/Promos/newoffers/engl.htm for packages.
Downside is you need to use their (free on loan) equipment to receive it so that means another box and dish!

    Try this on 15west Telstar> 11518 H NBC SR 3744 - FEC7/8

Most of the time raw tv from the states with the all so funny ads.

Also try 11190H 5632 3/4 on 16east, thats the CBS NY feed.

    Good luck.

I will just add, the stream is at 30frames per sec 720x480 video format as its for NTSC standard so you might get some colour flashing or a picture with a black band on bottom of screen, or it will just work, depends on the decoder chip in the satellite receiver..
