For those that dont know, Dell is 20 years old so they are having a sale. Just got an email from them offering a colour printer for €14.99 Incl VAT & Delivery. Dont know if its any good or not but at €14 you cant really go wrong. They also have what appear to be some pretty good deals on at the moment so I think its worth a look.

Just a note though, to get the printer for €14.99 you have to choose to get it without the 3 meter usb2 cable in the configure and buy screen otherwise its about €30 something. You will need your own cable if you want it for €14.99.

    http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/topics/promo.aspx/ie/en/ODG_printers_offer?c=ie&l=en&s=dhs

Offer is due to end on 04/10/2004.

Heh .... but yes ... it costs 64 euro for a black and white cartridge pair for it .... but I'll dump it when the ink runs out

And the delivery is free. The problem as ever is the price of Lexmark ink .

My dad got one of these [not sure if its exact same but it's a lexmark] and got wise to the super ridiculous prices for ink pretty quick. So he got one of those cheapo ink refill packs off the net and he's never looked back. He's way over the recommended number of times to refill the cartridge and its still going great.

this is only for black mind you, the refills produce terrible results with colour.

Not to mention that you will probably need to buy Dell Rebadged Ink only available from Dell, A friend of mine bought a heap of sh*te AIO 920 which is a rebadged lexmark and it will only take Dell Cartridges

I checked and you are right Toppy. To put it in perspective I paid €27.07 for 9 x Compatible Black Carts for my ould fellas epson last month and that included delivery. There are no compatibles for Dells.

Did your dad refill the trial cartridges or the full size ones?

Ok, decided to order one as I badly need some sort of printer.

I noticed that you can get the black and colour cartridge cheaper when ordering them separately.

viking i dont think your method of getting 2 catridges for a cheaper price works, i just did the 4 steps you outlined and what happens is that you only get 1 cartridge (the color one is €4.01 mroe than the black one). the buttons are radio buttons so you can only actually select one option. you can also see this on the final purchase screen which lists whats in your basket ....the printer and 1 colour cartridge for €47.

can someone educate me where is a cancel order button on dell's website?
I'd like to cancel for environments sake - it's just a waste of resource for a pritner I will use only while the original (trial) cartridges last

edit: don't tell me I'd have to email dell to do that - so much for ecommerce :( . seeing that there is cancelation forum I guess that is my only option

I too am trying to cancel my order and I'm having fabulous fun with Dell Customer Care at the moment.

Customer care seems to have moved to India and while the staff are quite nice they seem extremely reluctant to deviate from their decision tree script. Cancelling my order appears to cause serious headaches, in fact on my 3rd phone call to them to try and get the order cancelled the girl actually put me on hold for 10 mins and came back and offered me 8 pounds Sterling to keep my order!!!!

I think I have the order cancelled now, on my fourth call the girl assured me that although the order tracker said the printer was dispatched she has sent a request to distribution to cancel it.

I live in hope that it is indeed cancelled and doesn't turn up on my doorstep.

My epson is gone tits up something with it loading the paper,
anyways I have a few colour and black and white cartiages if youre intrested in buying them?

Mine arrived today. Print quality seems very good so I'm happy with it. Way I look at it from the ink point of view is that most ink is expensive so this is no different from any other printer in that regard.

hehe mine too, and I wast just out grocery shopping at the time so I missed them (murphys law in effect as expected)
this has been my first order with dell, but given the fact that they are online (and phone) online, direct 'manufacture&assemble' their stuff I'm quite suprised that you have hardly much information about your order (except a very plain order status page) etc. Very e-commerce unfriendly. A well, it's only 15E, I might just dump it to someone for a tenner if I don't want it anyway

Compatibles Ricardo. I use the Printrite ones from
MX2 for my epsons. There are other brands and suppliers out there but I have found the printrites to be sound . Mine is not a Photo model though. I have done (blown up to ) A4 photos with them and though te quality was good.

OK thanks. Good prices. No so worried about the quality. Don't use it that often.

I was looking at dell site.
    http://accessories.euro.dell.com/sna/InkSelector.aspx?c=ie&l=en&cs=iedhsc&printersku=16368

    Single Black Print Cartridge - for 720 / A920 All-in-One € 27.99
    Single Colour Print Cartridge - for 720 / A920 All-in-One€ 31.99
    Cartridge Bundle 1 - for 720 / A920 (1xBlack+1xColour)€ 64.37

Why is one bundle €64.37 when the two carts seperately cost €59.98

How to refill the trial catridges:
    http://www.jettec.com/instructions_jetset.asp?1=646
    http://www.jrinkjet.co.uk/lexmark4.htm

Don't know if anyone has done it successfully yet.. I'll give it a try when my ink runs out.. Requires some drilling and pen-knifing. :D
