Are nipples offensive?

I was reading the following article and thought it was strange that the womans nipple was "fuzzed" out while the mans was not. Are womens nipples offensive while mens are not? Their is no real difference to how they look, just that a womans nipple sits on top of her breast... which leads me onto, why is it just the nipple and not the whole breast that is "fuzzed" out??

I suppose its because a women's nipple actually has a purpose, whereas ours is just there.

    Something that confuses me too...

What defines a breast ? Is it the sack of fat or differently coloured skin on top?

Take a look at any female celeb that hasn't been papped & you'll find a photoshoot where they cover just their nipples with fingers etc & yet you see the rest of the boob...

because if they fuzzed out the whole breast, they wouldn't be able to show bra adverts on TV or any cleavage shots. so they had to pick *something* to be offended at, and the nipple is all that was left.

It's a bit silly but it reflects the wider custom that men are allowed to go topless in far more situations than women. Given how clothes for women are becoming increasingly revealing, I wouldn't be surprised if that changed in time, though.

Yes, and how come in the movie Batman and Robin, Batman and Robin had nipples on their suits, while Batgirl did not!

It ruined an otherwise enjoyable film.

Maybe the sheer crapness of the film ruined it for you? Just a thought.

As for the nipple issue, let's all roll our eyes over the "Nipple-gate" scandal. What a load of bull****.

It could be that women's breasts and nipples are designed to be sexually arrousing. Isn't the point of the cleavage to look like an arse so as to attract the males attention to the front of the body. They evolved that way when we started walking upright so as to avoid things going in the wrong hole in the more traditional animal way of making whoopie....

did you notice the fat ugly bloke selling the stuff wasn't stipped off.

maybe he's already had his 25% off. ;)

tbh he's just a perv looking for cheap thrills.

as for the nipple issue, it's just more proof that society is a bit weird when it comes to what you can and can't show.

for instance if a man had a nice pair of saggy man breasts they'd still show them in the media cos they were on a man, but if a woman had a completely flat chest they'd still cover things up.

plain old stupid if you ask me. after all it's just skin.

Was watching that stupid cosmetic surgery thing on mtv the other night and there was a girl getting liposuction.
They filmed the surgery with her stomach cut open and the doctor pulling out fat and goo in close up.
Besides feeling sick I though it was weird that the nipples were fuzzed out.
If she was willing to let a camera crew film her insides literally I'm sure she wouldn't be shy about showing a nipple.
Still it is a fcuked up attitude that its ok to show someone being shot in the face on tv but somehow bad to show a nipple!!!!
Violence ok, sex bad, you'd think we were being conditioned or something?

Think loon has a point would you all be ok to see a mans penis on tv so ? after all thats far more a taboo than a womens body

The female nipple isn't offensive, the female brest isn't offensive, but when you show both together it's an explosive mix of salacity, likely to send society at large into uncontrollable lust riots, raping and pillaging for weeks.

Our society owes it's stability to the invention of the nipple pixelation tool in photoshop.

that whole arguement about how under 18s need to be protected from seeing nipples is bullshjt

and why do the mods here not like pictures with nipples in them either?

there was something on tv 2 weeks ago about plastic sugery with vanessa (her of daytime tv fame) and i was at my dads for the night after my grannies funeral and just as we'd finished watching some movie or other i flicked it over only to find that they were doing a cosmetic vaginal tightening operation. the first shot was a full on bent over naked woman showing not only a gratuitous full kebab shot, but complete with winking ring piece as well. to say it left nothing to the imagination was an understatement, it wasn't even like it was from a distance, it was a proper closup, and on a 32" widescreen tv (with me only a foot or so from it) it was quite a shock, and huge embarassment in front of my dad! before i could grab the remote again to switch it over they even did a before and after shot of this woman's 'bits'. again in glorious moist glistening smell'o'vision closeup.

admittedly it was past 11pm (i think) on a week night, but it was still a lot to take in front of the old man.

i was in the UK at the time, so i don't know if it aired here in ireland. did anyone see it?

Probably on channel 5 then. They always show filth. Or at least they did when I lived there.

Yes, but would they show him being shot in the nipple?
Aha, I think not. The prosecution rests, m'lord.

I wouldn't have a problem. It's ridiculously patriarchal that female nudity is permitted, yet male is not, quite a silly situation imo.

In France they're a lot more relaxed about showing nipples etc and their society hasn't fallen apart just yet.

when i was in tenerife they were showing full frontal male and female nudity right through the day. admittedly it was on satellite channels, but it's no different than sky one showing soft porn at lunchtime.

    now there's an idea. :p

I am old enough to remember when breast feeding mothers in Donegal, carried on feeding the baby no matter who walked in to their house. It was looked upon as perfectly natural, and breast fed babie's are the healthiest.

So IMO, Nipples are not offensive.

Good Question. I always wondered why women cant show there nipples on daytime TV or on the beach :D .No Seriously, it is perfectly legal to show a woman in a bikini that only covers her nipples showing the entire rest of her breast and a topless man beside her with his nipples in full view. Her nipples are not any different from his but still she has to cover them. What if his nipples were superimposed onto her breasts does this then become offensive and illegal??? Makes ya think.

if you knew my old man you'd understand. he makes your average catholic grannie seem sexually liberated.

my mum told him it was time for 'the talk' (birds and bees for the slow ones at the back of the class) when i was about 11.

he bought me a book and told me to read it and if i had any questions to ask my mum.

he won't even open the sun newspaper because of page 3.

not exactly the pinnacle of modern society either.

the way I see it, women can't get penile erections, men can. If we lived in a world where women walked around topless all the time, breasts would lose their innate greatness and for the first few years men wouldn't be able to wear shorts or loose fitting pants.

You forgot to mention they eat babies and smell of cheese.

Just going on what I've seen. Which was that in a supermarket without the locals paying a blind bit of attention.

Don't get me wrong, my family have a house in France, I go there during the summers, I have nothing in particular against French people, but things work differently in different countries, I was just putting the point across that France ain't perfect.

Too late though, already got bad rep for it.

I'm like that :/ ... as you may have gathered over the years.

Generally, I just hate pussyfooting about online, and occasionally come off quite differently to what I meant. Meh, sorry if I offended anyone, wasn't the intention.

    it's alright cult *hug*
we'll still respect you in the morning :)

besides, women and children do sometimes need a good slapping around to show them what's right... bless them but they're just not the brightest

And I got bad rep for my little anthropology lesson earlier. But this whole issue comes down to anthropology, it's the same reason women use lipstick to make thier mouth look more like a vagina.

The reasons why men are attracted to cleavage and redder lips all have their origins in the very early stages of human development as we evolved from primates.
