Just a quick q re: splitting a signal for NTl basic cable service.

The problem is 2 tv's, I NTL cable outlet. Normally I would just get a y splitter and a stretch of COAX but cant do that becuase of where it located in the house and also because I'm renting I can exactly start laying cable on walls etc.

So...I want to split the signal using one a Multi room kit- but I', not sure which one to use. I want to make sure that both tv's are independant of each other-ie. can be watching 2 diferent things at once.

I had a look in the argos catalogue and saw 2 products which might be what I want but not sure. if anyone know which one will do the trick please let me know...

    Item 1

    Item 2

BTW both are items 3 and 4 on page 642 of the current argos catalogue if anyone has it.

    Cheers for the help
    David

Neither item is correct. You need a basic Y splitter and cable to share your signal. I'm not aware of any product that can share an ntl cable signal via a wireless setup. Maybe there is such a product but it is not either of the items you linked to.

you need a Y splitter and item 2
one side of the Y is wored to the tv
the other side goes to the wireless transmitter
    should work fine afaik

    //edit
because that box only seems to take a scart/av connection
you may need to stick a vcr or some sort of reciver in between

That's exactly what you will need to do. Basic NTL is supplied via co-ax, these transmitters take an AV/Scart source, so you need to convert your co-ax signal to an AV one. A video machine should do the trick nicely. All this costs money of course, the cheapest solution is just to split the cable and run it to your room.

    Thanks for the advice lads-

I think I will be getting the carpentry kit out and settling for the Y splitter and co-ax option- I suppose I'd nearly buy a new tv or DVD player for the same price as the senders. Although initially I thought it might be a bit unsightly I think I can tuck it under a skirting board :)

Let you know if I have any other bright ideas in the mean time.
