A lot of old pros I've worked with have told me their MCSE has been worth a big fat zero to them for all the use it's been... their advice was CCNA rather than MCSE...

Going to a 'bootcamp' to get your MCSE is crazy talk. If you have an ounce of intelligence, all it should take is a few books and a few weeks of self-study. Then concentrate on the likes of the CCNA, RHCE, etc.

MCSE is more or less a big stamp confirming you as a Windows power user. I'd say a fair few people here would have that level of expertise anyways just from beating away at Windows.

RHCE though, I'm very interested in. Anyone know somewhere in the west, preferably Galway, who deals in it?

mcse alone isn't much, with mcp together yes but at the end the day M$ stuff really means much???

If you're going for serverside/techie work then Linux/Unix expertise carries more weight because that's what the net is run on, after all. :p

www.iactonline.com but it's gonna cost ya!
Contemplated it for a while but decided it wasn't for me in the end. Depends what else you have to compliment it really as to whether it's worth it or not..

Sico has already sold you an MCSE bootcamp there for free and that's how I'd be tempted to do it - go buy the books, do the study and exercises on your own home network then go pass the exams.

    eh?

You pass MCP's which in turn combine to form a MCSE or MCSA.

Indeed, from what I remember of it you had to complete 4 MCP exams then 2/3 others to gain MCSE status and the comptia A+ or network+ can also be used to count as one of those 3? Not sure but remember it being something of the sorts :)
