Guitar problems...

I have two problems with my guitar (that's only a few weeks old :( ). One is a buzzing/rattling sound coming from the tuners on two of the strings (low e and g). This just came from nowhere. I hope I don't have too replace the tuners.

The other more serious problem is that the neck pickup just cuts out after a few seconds so it's useless. I hope it's just a loose wire or something. I'm gonna open it up now and see if I can fix it. Maybe someone came across this before and knows what to do?

I can only hope you haven't actually opened it up yet. I presume that it's a brand new guitar, you said it's only a few weeks old. Well in that case, regardless of how simple the problem may be, ie, a loose wire, bring it back to where you bought it and let them sort it out. A new guitar should not have such bad faults.

Anything you may do may void your guarantee. THat's what you pay for, regardless of what you buy. To be able to bring it back if it's not up to scratch and this one clearly isn't.

My advice is to leave it alone and bring it back ASAP.

Oh well. I opened it almost as soon as I got it because I wanted to see how easy it would be to change the pickups. I was thinking about getting emgs. They'd hardly notice though would they? I only took out the screws and put them back in.

They shouldn't notice, not if you don't say anything. I wouldn't even mention opening it to have a look. Just tell them what the problem is. You never know, they could be aware of it already, that problem may have arisen in others of that type, depending on the batch they're from.

Of course, I'm curious now, what make and model is it? And how much did you pay for it?

It's an Epiphone G400. It has these crap green plastic tuners. I'll possibly replace them with black Grover tuners in the future, as shown here: http://www.gibsonstrings.com/parts/heads.html. That would look cool.

The standard of electronics in Epiphones is nothing short of diaboolical. Don't stop with the pickups, replace every pot and switch while you're at it, save yourself a load of grief in the future. Seriously.

Your guitar should still be under warranty. Bring it straight back and demand that every fault be repaired immediately.

Well I managed to fix the pickup but the low e machine head is completely f*****.

Why are you trying to fix it. Bring it back. Get something decent.
