Barbados With Budget Travel

    Hi,

Thought this advice might help someone out. Went to Barbados with Budget Travel, Barbados itself was excellent, accomadation superb :D

    HOWEVER! :(

When it comes to the flights with Euro Atlantic Airways it gets ugly, VERY ugly. I presume Budget are paying very little to charter these flights.

The flight out was on an old old plane, there was water gushing from one of the light fixtures in the ceeling during take off, air con was broken, seats were so cramped it was beyond a joke, had requested extra leg room and was told it was arranged but no such thing when I got to check in.

The flight back gets worse, the plane was a new Boeing 767 but was obviously fitted out to carry ALOT of people over a short distance, even more cramped than the flight out. So cramped in fact I couldnt even put my table down. The Budget rep at the airport in Barbados promised me she had arranged extra leg room but when I got to the check in not only was this not possible, I couldnt even be seated beside my partner.

On board the plane. First the captain announced the flight would be longer than usual (10 hours aprox). Then he went on to say that there was a cock up and there were no pillows or blankets and that we should complain to Euro Atlantic Airways when we got home. Following take off the bar service came out BUT if you didnt have exact money they couldnt serve you because they had no float. A woman behind me tried to use travelers cheques but she was told they didnt take them EVEN THOUGH IT SAID ON THE BAR MENU THAT THEY DID!! If you wanted to use your credit card your spending was limited to 100euro, when I tried to do it this way ..... surprise surprise, credit card machine broken.

Finally, when some poor optimistic guy asked what the movie would be he got this reply: "Movie, what movie?.... oh, the movie system is broken" 10 hours with nothing, not even music.

This was in july, wrote a complaint letter and got a letter back saying they were going to look into it. Have heard nothing since.

Welcome to the world of charter airlines.

This I why I would never, ever fly with them again.
