    Cannot locate the CD-ROM
(CD/DVD emulation software has been detected. Please disable all CD/DVD emulation software and re-start the game.)

I keep getting this message when trying to run Splinter Cell in multiplayer mode yet the drive starts running and then after a few seconds this comes up... Any ideas as to what's doing it guys??

    Perplexed

Sounds Like Star Force it is an anti piracy driver that installs with a lot of games these days. http://www.boycottstarforce.org/

Now, because I'm talking about copy protection, I'd like to mention another one. Safedisc, version 3.15 and above, has a software conflict with about a dozen of other applications, some of them are quite wide-spread. If you have one of them installed, this bug would prevent you from playing the game. The following is a list of known games that use this copy protection:

    Bad Boys II (Empire Interactive)
    Crazy Taxi 3 (Sega)
    Far Cry (UBI Soft)
Lock On: Modern Air Combat (UBI Soft)
    Painkiller (Dreamcatcher)
Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow (UBI Soft)
    Syberia II (Dreamcatcher)
True Crime: Streets of L.A. (Activision)
    Universal Combat (Dreamcatcher

Oh okay. Well I just did a search for both those file names and I pulled up a Safedisc.inf file.. Would that be it though thats not an application is it... (i.e. .exe) and if so can I just delete it and will I be able to proceed from there?

I assume you have no emulation programs running? Alcohol 120%, Daemon Tools, blind write etc.

If you delete safedisc.inf it will stop you playing the game.

Why not ask the question here?

Try uninstalling clonecd, its probably detecting it.

EDIT: Here's some info on emulation and virtual drives. http://trial.alcohol-soft.com/en/alcohol_info.php

Sorry Ciaran but it was driving me mad and I needed answers quickly before I took a hammer to it... Yes I know, patience is a virtue ha ha ha I moved it to here http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=189686 but now have my teeth into it cos I was just accused of piracy when all I wanted was a solution if possible. Thanx!
