    Hey,

I have some files on a zip disk that I need to read. Problem is that the zip disks were formatted on a Mac. When I try to read the files/disk on my pc I am asked if I want to format the disk. Is there any way to view or convert the mac files so that I can use them on my pc??

    Any help would be appreciated.

PS. I have looked on google and ask jeeves for a tool but there is no shareware (that I know of) for this.

Just found transMac... Will see if it does the job!

If the ZIP disk was formatted on the mac it will probably have a apple style partition table (partition map in the first partition, and all subsequent partitions created sequentially from there). A PC uses a partition table with the partition table in the MBR, four primary partitions and extended partitions. The problem is that the PC can't recognise this partition table.

If transMac directly reads the raw data on the zip disk it should be able to access the apple style partitions.

Using it now. Its working but only for files smaller than about 1.4 Mb

Copy the files on to a mac. Then put a PC formatted disk in to the mac and copy the files to that.

As RicardoSmith says, Mac's can read PC stype partition tables fine (which is very handy).

Mail them to yourself via www.yousendit.com from the Mac. If you happen to have high-speed interenet on both machines.
