Recommdations for flatscreen TFT and pen scanner

    Hi
I'm thinking about buying a flatscreen monitor to replace the 17" CRT one I have now. Mostly for space reasons. Having to reorganise the desk and a flatscreen monitor would fit the bill nicely.
Anyone bought a TFT recently? My search pulled up some threads from 18 months ago which is loike, soooo old. I'd hope that technology has improved and prices dropped since then. I've a Dell PC, but am reluctant to buy without seeing the screen first. I've used a 5 year old 15" TFT here and it was a bit hard on the eyes after an hour or two. I will be using it for 3-4 hours at a time excluding tea breaks. So quality is important.

Secondly, I'm doing lots of reading at the moment. Old technology like books and stuff. I have only read marketing blurb for C-Pens. The price seems to be sticking about $200. I want one that I could use in a library ie disconnected from the PC. Preferably USB connection to a PC/Mac. Huge memory shouldn't be an issue as I expect to load to the PC at least once a week.
Anyone any experience of pen scanners? OCR any good? Good enough? How are items tagged for including in your documents (properly referenced of course, no plagiarism!) Is the software included okay? Anything else to think about?
    Cheers

How much are you looking to spend on a TFT?

Also, does your graphics card have a DVI output or just VGA?

My PC only has VGA. It's 2 nearly 3 years old now. If DVI helps, I'd be prepared to look at a new graphics card. I've had a look at Dell.ie and Komplett and the prices for a 17" monitor seems to be about 600 euros. I'm not sure my budget really is a big consideration here. That's what the technology costs at the moment. Mind you the systems Dell have got advertised in the papers at the moment, nearly worthwhile to go for a completew new box? USB 2, faster CPU, etc.

Not really interested in a LCD motniro/TV combo. See enough TV as it is.
