Wireless Mouse Annoyance

Just got a Creative wireless mouse (optical) which works grand. Installed the software but there's one catch:

Everytime I load up the computer it launches a mouse icon in the system tray which can be exited and leads to settings but can't be turned off for next time. It's not in the startup folder and there's no option as I've said.

    Any ideas?

Type in 'msconfig' in the run box and search for it in the startup tab , then uncheck it.

Cool thanks I see the prog there alright.

One question: Is there any risk is disabling some of these progs, eg:
    iTunes Helper
    MS Office
Even the mouse thing calls itself Creative Mouse Driver...

Or can I just re-inable them if needs be? 1 little icon is an annoyance but not enough to risk screwing up booting up. :)

    Thanks again.

If the OS is WinXP, there will be no harm in disabling Items under the Startup options in MSConfig. Windows will still boot fine.

Turning off some of these items will improve system performance.

The only issue you may experience will be that some items that are turned off will not run correctly when windows boots, this can be rectified by turning them back on in MSConfig.

Grand thank you. It looks like if it's disabled the option will still be there just to tick it back in without having to remember the exact location and parimiters.

    Thanks!

Eh sorry maybe I'm being stupid here but how in gods name do you take out ONE file from the list. Despite the fact they all have checkboxes the only buttons that appear are disable all or enable all.

    Huh?

You should be able to just untick the box and then click on OK below the 'enable all' button.

    Hope this helps.
