    Hi

On the first sunday of september my friend was coming back from china and bloddy aer lingus lost her luggage. It was just one suitcase. All she was given was a code reference and a website called mylostbags.com to check. Well she still hasnt recieved her bag. Its getting ridiculous now as she has been basically wearing the same jumper and pants for 3 weeks. There' s a phone number too but its just a computer, you never actually get to talk to anybody.

Some questions to anybody who's lost luggage.

Has all hope gone now or is there still a chance of it coming?
Is she entitled to any compensation over this fiasco?

Any other information you have would be appreciated.

I assume she had travel insurance? If so that should cover lost baggage.

Yea if she h\d travel insurance, she could go on a nice shopping spree and keep all the reciepts and claim it back afaik

before doing that... check the small print on the insurance... all is not what it seems to be with travel insurance <speaking from bitter experience>

has she phoned the airline ?

I know it's Aer Lingus but BA transatlantic lets us buy 'essentials' daily until our stuff was delivered. Dunno if it mattered that this was not returning home but arrival out there. Aer Lingus staff on the phone are (relatively) helpful in my experience.

Aer lingus lost a bag of mine from LAX last year.
I got it delivered to me within 24hrs

If they haven't found it by now it's likely that they don't know where it is, usually they send it to the wrong destination or it doesn't leave the original airport. Aer Lingus are bout by law to compensate you, it's some convention or something. They usually give you the maximum which is about €300 as far as I can remember. The travel insurance your friend has should pay money too. BA lost my bag a few years ago so I got money from them, so I speak from experience here.
