I see that you're located in Dublin. TBH, if you're a member of a club in Dublin, you might have a better chance than getting them anywhere else. I've never seen such a shortage of tickets. For the final in 97, most people that wanted them, had tickets at this stage but not this year. Just over 3,500 were allocated to Mayo clubs this year

Mayo Co board got a lot more though, I presume?

Allegedly. There's a lot more to that lot than meets the eye.

Incidently, I remember seeing a breakdown of ticket allocations for big games in Croker recently on boards but couldn't find it yesterday. Does anyone know where it is?

There is always a shortage of tickets, no matter who is playing. There is never a glut of them. Any year past, present or future is the same. To get a ticket try on the night before and on the day in around town and Croke Park. There are always some available, and I am not talking about touts but from genuine fans. You might not be in the right place in the right time, but you may be lucky.

Sorry irishgeo, as you would expect there would be others higher on the list if I did have one, and I don't.

Flukey, out of a matter of interest, from which category of those listed above did you get your ticket?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,001 ✭✭✭✭Flukey

It was through an official GAA source, fully legitimate. Obviously I am not going to be more specific that and gives names or anything and no, I wouldn't be able to get one for anyone else through this source.

    Very cloak and dagger Flukey!

I was just wondering out of interest from which county you got it, or whether it came from another category e.g. handball, camogie, schools, past presidents etc! But no worries if you think thats classified!

I've no interest in going myself. TV is fine for me. I'd hate to think of depriving a Mayo or Kerry person of their big day out.
(not having a dig at you there Flukey, as I know you attend every game in Croker for the year, so you're as entitled as anyone to have a ticket).

I think it came from the Leinster allocation. The source is Dublin-based, like myself, but I don't think it is direct from the Dublin allocation it is got. All above board though. As you said I am a regular in Croke Park, so I wouldn't be getting them from dodgy sources. I've got them from different sources over the years, but all legitimate and paying face value. I'd never get one off a tout. At different matches over the years I have on occasion bought one off a genuine fan with a spare. I suppose the best ever was for the 1991 Football Final when I bought one from an Armagh man on Jones Road. He had it for someone else but they hadn't turned up. This was in the days before mobile phones, so having waited a bit, he eventually sold it to me. That is the only one I ever got from a stranger for an All-Ireland Final. Glad I was to get it too! :)

Fair play to you, there aren't too many people out there with that attitude.
I know of one kerry guy who got a ticket for Sunday's match and hasn't been at a match involving them since they played Armagh in the 2002 final (and probably none before that either).
I don't even think he paid for the ticket. He has contributed sweet F.A. to the coffers of Kerry GAA in his life and wouldn't go to a club game in a month of Sunday's (literally).
It really makes my blood boil.
By the way, I'm not from Kerry or Mayo, fine counties though they both are.
