English as a mature student

Hay,
I want to study english next year as a mature student. I was wondering if anybody had any advice on the best way to do this.
What are they looking for in a student?
What is the process of application (cao/interview)
Were can i find information on the above?

Any information given would be a huge help.

Howdy,
As far as I know you must make an application both to CAO and to the university directly by february 1st (at the very latest). You also need to have met the matriculation requirements for the course in an exam of leaving cert standard. There is an interview then usually in March.

From mature students I know in my course, they all did a 6 month prep course in UCD before starting. Though that's for natural science. I'd be surprised if it was the case for english..

ApeX has some good advice there, I would agree with him about Trinity being the best for mature students. I'm not sure about your socio-economic backround however you might want to have a look here www.tcd.ie/Trinity_Access
