K i got this prob a couple a times in the past couple a days
Any time i run prime95s torture test(the one with the most power consumpting\heat) and once the cpu hits 51c-52c it dies

No error messages by prime95 it just dies
I am running an fsb of 348 with no pci\agp lock but i was having no prob on fsb360 a week back and my temps were over 60c

    Any ideas or solutions?

check if this still happens at stock speeds. If it does, you could be looking at a damaged CPU.

Sounds like a voltage thing to me, either not enough, or the PSU can't sustain the higher voltage (If you are using higher voltage)

What do you mean it dies? Be more specific.

Does the computer just restart or does it power off completely until you turn it back on?

It doesnt shut down it just cuts the power

It doesnt happen at stock speed but its at 40c idle

Could be damaged as ive been mesing round with it alot without an unlocked multiplier or an agp\pci lock

Actually is there anyway to unlock the multiplier without scratching at the surface of the chip?

Oh lordy, please be more specific about this; it could end up being the cause of your problem.

My friend did. He's now waiting for his new CPU. Moral: screwdrivers and CPUs don't like each other /\/ don't do everything you see on the web :D

So either your CPU is overheating, or it can't stably handle the overclock you are putting it through. The fact you ahve no pci/agp lock doesn't help either :p My advice is to not overclock (except by a few mhz AT MOST) unless you have an pci lock. Overclocking teh FSB without a lock stresses every componant in your system.

I no the base figure FSB can go to about 180 before the HD gives out

Without the AGP/PCI lock, don't even try. You're putting your hard drives at serious risk...

Sorry I was away for a couple of days.

That almost definitly sounds like a psu problem. I had the same problem while overclocking due to a dodgey 12v rail. Overclock and monitor your 12v rail while running prime 95. My bet is that it's dropping a bit.

If you don't have a pci/agp lock I wouldn't bother like the others said though unless you fancy losing everything on your hdd's.
