Yeah that's a sexy mofo alright. A friend of mine has an Alembic custom, not quite as sexy as that one, but damn fine all the same.

Acutally, I'll take this opportunity to plug his gig!!

Bill Bergin (on bass) and the East Coast Jazz Project, Saturday October 2nd in the Boom Boom Room, Parnell Street. Bill is the best bass player I've EVER heard, on any recording or live performance. On the night he'll be performing tunes from Weather Report, Mr Pink, Marcus Miller, and various bass-driven takes on jazz standards and other eclectic surprises.

I've seen his gig before, the tone off the Alembic is sensational, it's streets ahead of any other bass guitar I've heard.

Alembics are nice. Metallica's Load, Reload, Garage Inc and S&M were using Alembics IIRC.

Nah, I think Newsted had moved onto Sadowsky's after the black album. Alembics are very, very nice but just too damn expensive IMO.

He used Sadowsky's live cos of the weight but he was a big Alembic player.

He used the Sadowsky's because, and this is his genuine explanation, they were the only manufacturer who could build him a waterproof bass. Metallica play with the air conditioning turned off and every other bass he tried was shorting out and corroding from the vast amounts of sweat. Sadowsky's are world class instruments, definitely not inferior to anything out there.

IIRC he never used the Alembics in the studio. He used a Spector for the black album and a Wal for AJFA, not that you'd notice.

Hmm. I was fairly sure he did use an Alembic or two recording...

I'm sure the answer is in here somewhere, I just haven't the motivation to read through it all.

Post AJFA sucks and I'm happier not knowing about it.

He did use Sadowsky's on the Voivod album, I'd recommend that particular disc to everyone :D

Gah, I was just looking for that very website! And I read through it already....

I kinda liked the black album and garage inc bass... Next album could be good.

    Stop laughing!

Next Voivod album? For sure, I can't wait!

Next Schmetalico album? Jesus spare us from the torment!!!

Meh. Didn't like what I heard from the Voivod album, all one song of it...

Give it another chance man, it's a quality album. Real Metal!

And then check out Sadowsky guitars.

If his basses are anything to go by, these giutars would be nothing short of amazing. They certainly look the part.

Not overly impressed by the looks but I'm sure they'll sound good!

    You make me despair sometimes!

How can you not be impressed by this?

It's nice but this is nicer.
