I wiped my powerbook to install OS X again a few days ago, and beforehand I backed up everything on my harddrive, including applications, to a few DVD's.

Now i'm trying to put everything back on, but when I try to open Toast Titanium 5.0 it bounces in the dock for 2 seconds and then quits with no error message.

    Any ideas?

The same way i've always backed applications up, I just dragged them into Toast and burnt them. It's always worked before and all the other apps on the dvd i burnt are working fine, just Toast refuses to work :(

Tried changing the permissions on the app ? had a similar prob with a few progs like that and it solved the issue.

Some programs may require you to reinstall i'v found a few e.g. limewire for one...you may need the installer for it.

    Laters

Yeah, I would have thought that any programs that require keys would install themselves onto other places on your mac - not just the apps folder. Surely that makes copying apps too easy?

Are there not places in the library which are similar to the prefs folder in OS9 - this would be the place where all nitty gritty serial codes are stored surely?

Sorry, can't help out though. Try changing your system clock to 2001 as I had to do after a few months after my free trial of Toast Tit 5 ran out. Although it did tell me that "this has expired" so it probably wont be much help.

I've sent copies of Office X and Photoshop to a friend over bluetooth before, so obviously not! :)

Will try the permissions and date thing when I get home

Yeah I have heard of that. But for example - Digital Performer for OS9 is hardlined to the hard disk you use and I think Reason 2 is also not transferrable for some reason.

I just bought a 120 gig external hard drive tonight and am going to back up my partitions so that I can save my apps that I have corrupted install cds for. To do this I am disk copying my partitions to the external from OS9 - this apparently copies EVERYTHING as opposed to non-invisible files. Dont ask me why.

I think that you have been lucky to have only had Toast not working, I think if I did that my main piece of software would be gone and a couple of other nice ones too.
