now i WAS running 4.8 cats..thought..ill try these 4.9s coz my Sims 2 is sort of..odd it stutters and drops to like about ..10fps when u move screen..then goes back to over 100, so i thought 4.9s should help, removed 4.8, went to put 9 in and midway through installation i get "a problems has occured and ..etc etc" the usual error message...but they continued to install..so i left it to it, did the usual restart..everything appeared to be ok, went on richard burns rally (all full details pretty high res i get about 40-50fps which is fine..coz it was fine on 4.8 cats) well on 4.9 i keeps stuttering..although according to fraps its never dropped below 40fps , even when it stutters the framerate is happily around 45..

thought..screw this removed them and went back to 4.8's now im getting crappy stuttering sims still and richard burns rally is STILL stuttering!

i thought it must be something up with the vid card drivers but...shellshock nam 67 still works fine..100+ fps..no slow down no stuttering

i dont know wot to do here, i try and install vid card drivers that use to work..which dont want to work anymore im gonna have to try 3dmarks see if my mark has nose dived or something, but somethings not right :(

    any suggestions?

btw - ive been reading and it seems is there some sort of problem with ATi and DX9.0c (for sims 2) as there are people with similar set ups to me getting really laggy and some people with older GF4 cards playing it smoothly ..dont suppose anyone else encoutered this have they?

This osunds like an OS issue. If after updating drivers issue persists, then I would back up all prsonal data. And reformat the drive. Then install all latest OS updiates firs. Then Driver updates then game. Check it out - See what happens. Same issue, then there is a hardware problem.
