Is it held in the Dcu pub?
If so, does that mean non-bar-members can't go?
    Thanks in advance.

its not just in the pub, they close off the entire hub, and let people in at the door, they ask for your dcu id at the door with a different form of id to prove yer age. Any non dcu people can still go, but they have to be signed in at the henry gratten building by a dcu person, and they'll get an wrist band to show the people at the door.
so no, you dont have to be a member of the bar.

*** Freshers Ball Sneak Preview ***

This year for the Freshers Ball we're going to try something very
different, which is an indoor/outdoor event with an outdoor stage,
funfair rides, fire breathers, bands, food and lots more. It's really
going to be great, and you'll see the posters with details when you get
    back.

this is what i received in an email regarding the up and coming fresher's ball.
    sounds kerazy.

Anything has to be better than Aslan!

Although Turn and Australian Nirvana were pretty nifty.

Disorientation ball was good craic, 'cept for the fact that they apparently sold out on all the drink that was on promotion.

Took yonks to get to the bar!

Having all that stuff just means there's going to be more to mess up.

Everyone check your DCU e-mail, you should have an e-mail about the freshers ball/carnival.

Hypothetically, one could get an alternate form of ID which may make you out to be older than you are, then get a DCU student to sign you in as a guest.
Then use your falsified ID to get in.

All hypothetical though, the fine, law-abiding members of DCU wouldn't ever do this.
