I like a whole lot of different sounds including - Moloko, Lou Reed, Roxy Music, Nina Simone, R.E.M, Leonard Cohen, Donna Summer, The Smiths, Thin Lizzy, T-Rex, The Hives, Muse, James Brown etc.......basically i'd like something rocky/funky/jazzy/electronic. Anyone looking for a singer like me?

What sort of music would you be thinking of going for? I can't help but think that an amalgamation of all those artists would be messy to say the least...

I play drums, by the way. And I'd be interested.

In fairness not just messy, bloody impossible to fuse that lot! To be honest i'm not sure exactly what direction I want to take, just want to get something funky going, maybe get a keyboard and some nice bass going as well. I'd like to work with anyone inventive really, see what comes out of it

    Hey,

Myself and a drummer are to trying to put together / repair a band! The line-up we had was guitar / piano, vocals, bass, tenor sax, trumpet and drums.

The brass section couldn't really commit to practicing twice a week, so we're back to square 2 (I'd say square 1, but we've got lots and lots of songs written and completed).

I just realised how lame a phrase "sqaure 2" is.

Anyhoo, there isn't really an opening for a full-time singer since I'd be doing that myself, but I'd really love to have female vocals in one or two of the songs, so if you're ever interested in some recording or a few songs on-stage that would be great. Even better would be if you could play keyboard / piano!

This is a link to the one half-way decent recording I have, and it's acoustic! See how prepared I am... :)http://homepage.eircom.net/~tfebm/Apple%20Tree.mp3

So that'll be that. I'll shut up now.

Deathfunk, I love that MP3! Any more?

It's a very catchy tune, groovy and melodic, reminded me of Divine Comedy and The Beatles. Great guitar playing, great singing and harmonies are perfect. Very impressed!! Mind if I send it on to a couple of friends?

    Good stuff,

    Robbie

    Thanks Robbie! :D

By all means, send it to as many people as you like! Trying to get a band together as I mentioned above, so if any musician's you know are interested, maybe you could give them my e-mail address? It's seanpfoley@gmail.com

The song's called "Apple Tree" by the way, and the band (will) be called "The Barrelhouse Cats"...

Thanks for the compliments again, lovely to hear. Probably helps that I'm a New Colour Soul fan too ;) (I finally tracked down a copy of Prince's version of "Strange Relationship" after being switched on to it by you guys)

By the way, I don't have any more *decent* quality recordings (loads of practice sessions, but they're a bit messy and unbalanced). That was recorded for a live DIT FM show. But I'm buying some new recording gear at the moment, so I'll definitely saturate the music board with MP3's when I have 'em :)
