firstly, i am aware that this is not a medical board. i am advice about a medical issue not medical advice.

    well here goes:

i am a 26 year old male. and i have a bit of a tight foreskin. nothing so bad as to inhibit anything. and my frendelum tore when iwas about 17.

i am looking for advice on weather i should be circumcised?

what i am wondering is should i go to my GP or to a urologist? i dont want to waste 40 euro on my GP if he is just going to refer me to a urologist.

and i definitely dont want to pay 160 euro to see a urologist, if my GP can have a look and advise me.

call me stingly if you like.

has anyone had any experience with, getting advice that could offer me any advise?

    thanks a lot.

    Dear Stingly,

Be careful whose advice you follow.
Many of the posters are female.
After all, you wouldn't take your car to a mechanic who didn't own a car would you. ;)

If you can carry on with it - I wouldn't get it chopped.
ONLY consider it if it's getting infected a lot and/or it's effecting sexual pleasure.

...because some sex crazy bird tuggs at it to hard/quickly, is no reason for a circumcision, just have a little caht with her. ;)

I think it's a bit of a catch 22. A friend of mine went to a GP who immediately referred him to a urologist, but I'm not sure if you can go to a urologist directly. If you can - go that way is my advice. Personally speaking if it's bothering you or it's an issue during sex, I would get it done. According to quite a few people I've talked to, it may be sore/ a bother for about a month but apparently eases quite quickly.

    Hope that helps.

    Hi

I'm 25 and was pretty much in the same situation. I went to my GP who referred me to a urologist (in Dundalk, I live in Meath). When I rang the urologist, his secretary was quite definite about his not seeing me without a referral letter (to the point of ringing me the week before my appointment to confirm I'd bring the letter with me). I waited 2 months to see the urologist and I'm waiting for a date for the procedure now.

As to costs, this urologist charges €100 for the initial consultation. Reviews (usually one, sometimes two) are €70.

Feel free to PM me if you need any more info.
