Hi I was thinking of taking up the Ecdl Version 4 course as a part time night course ? has anybody else taken up this course or taken part in it - What does it actually cover? are the contents of the course very basic? How much detail does it go in to ?Is it worth taking up considering the cost of the course and what kind of employment prospects does it offer. I have a degree already and was wondering if the course would improve my chances of employment - is it something that employers actually look at or think is worth while on a CV?

Are there any other night courses or day courses for that matter which anybody would storngly suggest taking up which would be very worthwhile in terms of employment opportunites and increasing my employment opportunites?

All help and replies would be much appreciated!!!

What kind of degree? ECDL is for people looking to get themselves some basic computer training, and for getting a foothold towards entry-level jobs like secretarial work, data entry, etc.

Yes there is loads of other night courses and also self study certificates you can obtain. Unless you are looking for very specific work I can't see it helping you in the slightest.

If you feel your computer skills are particularly weak then by all means go for it - you'll probably learn a lot and could gain confidence from it but I don't see it as somethat that would actually improve your CV. What kind of work are you looking for? You'd be better off getting a foreign language or doing MSCE exams if you're interested in computers, CCNA if you like networking, Java exams if you like programming, Accountancy Certs etc, the list is endless but would be narrowed down depending on what you are aiming for.

You should also check out COMPTIA's range of certs like network+ and A+.

Ive heard they are good for entry level jobs.
