This morning at 10:01 AM ( 15th Tue ) I got this weird text from number: 353 85 7000910 the body of the message was "SIM Updated". I ignored it as a trick to try and get you to ring the number for some reason or another ( I can't think of any good ones but I didnt know the number and the message was weird so I thought it was a hoax ). Then later on in the day when I had to go out I grabbed my phone ( Nokia 3310...I think ) and tried to lock it, it totally ignored the key combination! When I pressed the main Menu button it would respond but then when I pressed the second button in the sequence ( * ) it did nothing; it just left me staring at the Phone Book menu option. I have taken off the case and pressed the buttons with a key etc.. the same result everytime! If I press the * button on its own it will show up, but when I try to use it as part of the locking sequence it does nothing :( I just can't see how a txt could do this to my phone so I'm hoping that it's pure coincidence that these two events happened on the same day, if anyone can suggest anything short of reseting everything ( Are my profiles lost then? I dont want to lose them ) or if anyone has seen something like this before I'd appreciate your input. A txt cant do this right????

I got that message tooat 10.20 and my phone, also a nokia, has been working perfectly since. As far as I know thats the number Meteor use to contact ppl, like wen u top up and stuff? Maybe not but thats what i think it is. It could be sumthing to do with them upgrading to MMS msgs? Guess in the dark really lol

It must be a coincidence, nothing else. A text message can't do anything with your phone unless it includes certain phone codes for installing settings etc, but with a 3310, nothing much u can do to that. so yeah i go for a coincidence

I thought I'd seen that number before - what the hell are Meteor sending this weird stuff to me for  ! Ye I thought it was a coincidence I was just wondering if anyone else received the same odd message, at least I'm not the only one. Makes me feel less targeted ;)

I got this message yesterday and didn't know what it was so rang Meteor. They told me that because Meteor are now piggybacking o2's aerials i.e. when a Meteor phone has no signal it can now get signal from an o2 mast, Meteor sent around a test text message to confirm that the service is working. Nothing to worry about. OfflerCrocGod, your phone is just old and crappy...buy a new one.
