It depends on the aircraft. Not every aircraft has them installed in every cabin.

If you are flying on one of the newer airbus it will more than likely be available. Some aircraft as well only have it available in business class.

Its hit and miss really, but if you are travelling business class it should be available.

so how would I go about finding out? I think it will be an airbus A320.

should they know at the check in desk? last time I asked there, they hadnt a clue. Any idea where the sockets are located? Under seats, fusulage corners or all over the place?

    Thanks for the help!

That aircraft should have it.... I'd give them a call and check to see if they know beforehand for definite.

The sockets are usually in the arm rest area...

I fly to the US quite a bit, but from London on BA.

I never take my laptop because TBH I am frightened of losing it. I have noticed that in the BA inflight sales brochure they sell these -

TeleAdapt Inflight Power – In-seat Adaptor
If you could do with powering up your laptop or mobile right now, you could do with this 110V universal power inverter. It works instantly with all notebook PCs and many mobile devices, providing power when you're airborne or on the road.
    Includes: carry case, two cables.
£75 ISA Add to wish list
    In-built overload/surge protection
    Weighs under 454g (1lb)
    Available on Longhaul routes

Does anybody know if these adapters are essential to get power from the IFE system to the laptop??

Some airlines won't let you use your own, only one they provide.

Bear in mind these clowns seem to be the only airline in existence that banned Gameboys from all flights. I would be very doubtful if they could give you a straight answer. I have become very cynical about Aer Lingus. But that is for another thread.

I was on Aer Lingus in June, had my laptop with me, but couldn't find a power socket. Mind you, I was in steerage, maybe they have it in first class.
