Hi their i am currently in college and i am behind a proxy and a firewall.
I have one problem in college and that is when I try to use Mirc.

When I try to connect to a server I just get this error:

    Cannot connect to firewall.

I used to use a tool called http tunnel but I think the proxy address has been changed. I’m just wondering if you know of any way round this cause to me using IRC is pretty dam harmless.

There's plenty of web based irc clients, google it.
Or get Trillian (www.trillian.cc), it will let you go through a web proxy.

Isn't there any way you can find out the new proxy address?
    They're generally just proxy.university.ie. For example proxy.dcu.ie.

A decent proxy server like SquidGuard will be able to block these too...

Theres no problem at all as long as you know the proxy address and the ports that are allowed by both it and the firewall. Most network based programs have ways that allow you to set these options, and bypass the proxy. But if you don't know them, then you're stuck with boards ;)

Download the client. There's an option to run mIRC with it. Setup directions are in the help section of the website.
