Last night ran spybot search and destroy because i thought there was some spywear on my computer did it all went well untill the next day i went to go on the internet.

It wouldnt connect no webpage would come up and the modem wouldnt even start I dont know if spybot deleted any files or if the spywear harmed the internet exployer.

There is a window that pops up with title 180 search assistant and it says in the box the system has detected a third pary application has removed 180 search assistant, possibility with our consent then many cause some programs not to run as expected.

If i try to use this box and press one of the options it doesnt seem to work mabeye i need an internet connection for this to work.

    Help would be appriciated.

Spybot didn't completly remove all the spyware. You should use Spybot and Adaware as they both miss some stuff the other picks up.

If you can you should get rid of IE, its the biggest securety problem on you pc. You should also invest in a good firewall if you don't have one.

    EDIT: Adaware - http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

    Kerio free frewall - http://www.kerio.com/kpf_home.html

Make sure you update spybot and adaware before you run them.

Search your hard drive for this "180 search" rubbish and get rid of it ( use other spyware tools like hyjack this and adaware ). Then seek enlightenment in this thread here.

    Things to do:

Learn to use punctuation. Sorry, but it has taken me a long time to decipher what you are trying to say. We are only too glad to help, but help us to help you.

Protect yourself. You need the following: Adaware, Spybot S&D, Zone Alarm (firewall) and AVG Anti-virus. All are free. And of course, Firefox.

The modem may now be working because of a dialler. Run the above programs (make sure to update them first - they all have an auto-update function), get rid of all the crap and then see if your modem is working.

If not, get back to us with as much detail as possible, including any error messages.

Use the recovery feature inside Search And Destroy to restore the whole lot. That will probably get you your connection back. Personally Id just leave it at that and use firefox from now on, but if your feeling lucky you can selectivey remove groups of spyware at a time untill you lose your connection again, once you know the name of the ****er do a search on the net on how to remove it right.

Yes :D sorry for not writing it straight out.

Maybe...but as tom dunne has already said the problem could be a dialler which may have deleted your dialling settings in which case no browser in the world will help you, you will just have to reinstall them  Once you get back on the web though use Firefox as it tend to less of a target for attacks then IE.

Have restored the files on search and destroy.
But it still hasent let me use my modem as someone said my dialer settings have probably been deleted. Does anybody know how how to restore these.

If you have XP try this.

    Or win95/98/Me try this.

Hope that does the trick for ya ;)

Right, you have got the hang of the whole punctuation, so we are making progress (and sense). :D

But we need more info, if what bus77 suggests doesn't work, give us everything you've got.

Detail EXACTLY what you are doing (i.e. Start->Settings->Network->IOL connection, or are you just opening Internet Explorer)

Does your modem appear in the system (In XP, Right-click My Computer, select Manage, then Device Manager)?

Check Start->Settings->Network Connections - is the dial-ip connection there (i.e. IOL, Eircom, whatever)? If so, give us the details of what's in them (i.e. phone numbers, etc.)

You see the level of detail we need? Sometimes these can be extremely simple to fix, sometimes, extremely difficult.
