help!...ive just spent £800 on 2 pcs (mine and server) and i want to spent more  ...i believe i have a problem....but looking at main sig..the "weakest part" i see in it..is the video card..but i dont have a problem with it..it plays anything i throw at it....so thats out of the question...but i need to spend... :(

i think i want to get a new fan controller unit for the top of my case (RIP poor hardcano)...and connect all my fans up again..but the inside of my case is relativly tidy for once! and i dont wanna go messing it up with loads of power cables...so i dont know what to do

...seriously i dont know wot to add..im open to any ideas about the fan issue...i would consider taking the blue thing off down the side of the case that holds 2 fans in..and replacing the window panel so i can see inside better..but then id have worse cooling...i dont know what to do  ...or do i just get a water cooling kit...or something else..or ...*explodes*

help meeee...my credit card limit will prob top out soon so i dont need to spend in the 3 figures :p ..but something..anything!

I think your main computer is very good. If you think you need something well then maybe a GeForce 6800GT is what i would go for next. You have a great chip and MB and im sure you can OC that chip some.

Your a bit like me i have 4 computers all together. One my sister has which i will never get back. As for the other 3 i have my main computer which i use all the time. And my second computer gets some use and the last non what so ever.

In the last 12 months i have spent atleast 2000 euro. And ontop of that last weekend i ordered another 900euro of stuff. But something was up with the visa card so order was cancled "will have to sort that out".

I know whats its like to spend spend spend and its very hard to stop. As ones you get something a day or 2 later your all ready of what next to get.

"people like us make Intel, Microsoft, Ati And Nvidia rich.

its my student loan/ overdraft..ill be in **** streets in 3 years time

tft...tbh id rather have a large crt..and ive got a 19" flatscreen 1 now which i thinks cool..i couldnt warrant spending ££££ on something a couple of inches bigger or thinner..watercooling is an option..i guess...but..hmm i dont know

i dont really..have any ..other hobbies ..dunno if theres anything else i could/would do...

and yep..ive made amd/ati pretty rich :( ..well my terms of rich and theres may be slighty different but i dont hear them complaning

gadgets..i dont know if i would actually "use" them..i may want to spend but..something that actually ill use a lot! ...

How you fixed sound wise? My next spend will be on a good amp and a nice pair of monitor speakers. Dont trust speakers that weigh less than a kilo ;)

hmm ive got some 5.1's...they aint the greatest (only trust) but for £80 im quite pleased with em..ive never been allowed! to get them past about 25% due to ground/wall shaking and they still sound great there :D

however..after removing my cheap soundblaster im currently using msis onboard 7.1...doesnt sound as good as my soundblaster..i thought about an audigy card..but..hmm for the price..what else can you realllllly do with it..i mean its just gonna play my music and stuff..maybe a little better...or is there some greatness about audigy cards i dont know about?

if u play an instrument, the top of the range creative card can record with ASIO (technology cubase uses). its also 24 bit etc etc. Has a cool break-out box and a remote control :) If u play games, it supports THX, DTS, Dolby EX and EAX. The sound quality is noticeably (SP?) better then the onboard.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 807 ✭✭✭ViperVenoM

    hmmm
i dont play instrument.mine will just get heavy music and gaming ...a lot of hours a day :D

whether its worth the £50 (the 1 ive seen) though..is a different matter.....not sure tbh..although i dont like this onboard i must say...

A bit off-topic, but why the **** did you get a student loan if you can't even think of anything to buy with it?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 807 ✭✭✭ViperVenoM

coz ive still got other expenses like getting to uni and back..buying dinner...games..clothes  and flipping rent to my parents...my dsl connection..sky..etc etc whatever else..

i didnt even get a choice..i didnt think u could actually join university without getting a student loan...i just heard about it and thought..thats all gonna go on my pc  ...i saw this coming

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 812 ✭✭✭neGev

Heh, alright, I still think you should just work your way through college/uni but each to their own.
Enjoy whatever you decide to get anyway. Far be it from me to begrudge you it, :)
Where are ya going to college ?

OT, but stay away from student loans unless you actually /need/ them (I did need mine). When I say /need/ I'm not talking about a top of the line computer. I mean food, clothes, bus fares, etc...

I'm out of college four years now. Just finished paying off my student loan in April. It hurts to pay out that much money for that length of time.

If you really want to buy top of the line computer stuff, my advice is to earn the money before you spend it ;)

ey when did this turn into a conversation about my loan

may i just stress here..i did NOT get the chance to not have the loan...it came...and thats that..it goes on rent to my parents..my sky..my dsl line...if i neeed clothes..i buy...if i need a game..i buy...its not ALL going on the pc..but since its here...i may as well spend some...so can we get back to the point of what i can buy..instead of telling me i shouldnt even have it :p ....was out of my hands...

If you really *need* to spend loads of money, I find having a girlfriend to be a very expensive hobby...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,614 ✭✭✭BadCharlie

People ask me how did you meet your g/f.

I tell them well as soon as i opened my Wallet she was there :)

yeh i "had" 1 of them...and had no money..now i dont have 1..lots of cash :D and pcs dont argue..or all the other crap...so maybe i should spend now..before i get another...as then ill have no money..and i wont be needed...

odd way of thinking..but it keeps me stress free..

yeh so..if the best options i have so far are get a girlfriend..or a watercooling kit..i may have to go with water..its a 1 off payment and thats that... ;)

    Dear Board Mebers,

18 months ago, I upgraded to Girlfriend 1.0 from Drinking Mates 4.2,
which I had used for years without any trouble. However, here are
apparently conflicts between these two products, and the only solution
was to try and run Girlfriend 1.0 with the sound turned off.

To make matters worse, Girlfriend 1.0 is incompatible with several other
applications, such as Lads Night Out 3.1, Football 3pm, and Playboy
    6.9..

Successive versions of Girlfriend proved no better. A shareware program,
Party Girl 2.1, which I tried, had many bugs and left a virus in my
system, forcing me to shut down completely for several weeks.

Eventually, I tried to run Girlfriend 1.2 and Girlfriend 1.0 at the same
time, only to discover that when these two systems detected each other,
they caused severe damage to my hardware.

I then upgraded to Fiancée 1.0, only to discover that this product
soon had to be upgraded further to Wife 1.0. While Wife 1.0 tends to use up
all my available resources, it does come bundled with FreeSex Plus and
    Cleanhouse 2003.

Shortly after this upgrade, however, I found that Wife 1.0 can be very
unstable and costly to run. Any mistakes I made were automatically
stored in Wife 1.0's memory and could not be deleted. They then
resurfaced months later when I had forgotten about them.

Wife 1.0 also has an automatic Diary, Explorer and E-mail Filter, and
can, without warning, launch TurboStrop and WhingeExcel. These latter
products have no Help files, and I have to try to guess what the problem
    is.

Additional problems are that Wife 1.0 needs updating regularly,
requiring ShoeShop Browser for new attachments and Hairstyle Express
which needs to be reinstalled every other week. Wife 1.0 also spawns
unwelcome child processes that drain my resources.

These conflict with some of the new games I wanted to try out, warning
me that they are an illegal operation. Also, when Wife 1.0 attaches
itself to my Audi TT hard drive, it often crashes.

Wife 1.0 also comes with a rather annoying pop-up called Mother-In-Law,
    which can't be turned off.

Recently I've been tempted to install Mistress 2003, but there could be
problems. A friend of mine has alerted me to the fact that if Wife 1.0
detects Mistress 2003, it tends to delete all of your Money files before
    uninstalling itself.

Any help on this matter would be most gratefully received.

    Regards Mick
