I hate Maths(dont get me wrong here i study it)
i am dont 2nd year science maths and i am stuch with the most pretencious maths teacher ever all he gives us is theory and 2 examples the theory goes on for three hours at least,he doesn't expect us to answer the required amount of questions in the exam and the questions are insanely difficult compared to every year before us bar none, yet he claims its easy.Prime example he made a sample paper gave it to us an then said his POSTGRADS couldnt do some.tosser he teaches us like we are full maths students not science students and he is so cocky about it as well
As you may guess i dont like this man one bit

    Hey, celingfan,

I'll bet you're one of those people who hates punctuation, grammar and spelling, too.

If you didn't like Maths, or clever people, you should have done Arts. Philosophy might have suited you better.

Then again, it could be said that if one doesn't accept the validity of philosophical inquiry, there's little point in studying maths ... ;o)

Try to keep the hubris levels down, kids, it helps conversation move along more smoothly.

I loved maths when I was in school! Favourite subject without a doubt. Then I went to college and was taught the most useless maths ever that I will probably never use. Like how often do we need to find the triple integral of something or the poisson distribution! B#llsh1t

I think fletch is demonstrating pooka's point here :)

Actually, nowadays there's very little mathematics that gets taught at an undergraduate level that doesn't have an application somewhere. Also, you never know where an application will turn up for things. If you were taking pure maths then they probably weren't too worried about that on your course however.

I have to say I really didn't like maths in school but once I did it in college I could see that it was actually applicable to real life and that those chemistry equations for rates and whatnot weren't just random sums to test us.

Off topic: Ecksor, why does your post count read 0? I'm pretty sure you've posted once or twice before :)

I know my typing is pretty poor from time to time, but some of you guys should stop worrying so much about Math and have a review of your English ;)
BTW Did anyone ever find out what x equals, it's puzzled me for years now. :)

And celingfan demonstrates pooka's other point ...

Thread locked, College Work or Personal Issues are more suited to this sort of complaint.
