A KK view...

First off I'd like to say well done to Cork, better team won on the day.Secondly the atmosphere in the upper cusack was fairly good alot of shouting and full of kk fans minus 2 "rebels" sitting behind me. (who didnt show their shirts off until the final whistle while i froze my ass off in the kk jersey may i add).

The final whistle blew, Absolute torture as the chant of rebels could be heard around Croke Park and a sea of red could be seen on the pitch, the disappointment that filled me cannot be described, i had a feeling we couldnt do it but you always hang on to that bit of hope and the talk of the treble and leading titles made all that more important. For ages I couldnt bring a smile to my face, on the verge of tears for the guys who have committed themselves to the game week after week bringing us entertainment year after year, for the die hard fans who will be too old to see the next treble (if there is ever another for kk). And the Mullaly brothers who wanted to play for their father.

The pain became bigger as Cork people streamed past our bus, banging on the window, sticking up their middle finger and shouting numerous things to open the wound once more.

At the homecoming last night, i was proud of the 15000 people who turned up and welcomed the boys back, the mood in the town was sombre especially as the bus drove along the street behind the lonely sound of the brass band and the minor bus(who, even though they had drawn, didnt look that happy), the boys with sad faces just peering over the open double decker, DJ saluting, James McGarry trying to smile, and tears in 1 of the guys eyes. The crowd clapped and a few cheers. A complete opposite to last year with the smiles and jumping and cheering in the crowd. Introducing the team, the M.C. got a few cheers from the crowd. It was also tinged with sadness at the death of the Mullalys brothers father, may he rest in peace.

I'm proud to be a Cat, the slagging makes me that more defiant that we will be back next year with a new plan of action and on our way to hopefully getting the 29th title. As they say "tiocfaidh ar la" Beidh lá eile againn.

Commiserations Country Gurl, KK just did not perform on the day. They should really have been a few clear at half time and when they were not the writing was on the wall. Still your description of your feelings there is something the rest of us experience almost every year, every year since 1995 for us Dubs. Once every three years is not so bad!

Very unsporting behaviour by my fellow corkoninans,no need for it.
I personally disapprove of such behaviour, but there are always people like that around.

Kilkenny=losers Cork=brilliant .thats all there is to it .

    Up Cork, :D:D

Tipp for 2005, Jesus I had some night in Lannigans Sunday night, all the Kilkenny supporters retuning home from theis years exploits and not even Leinster title to show for the year.

With all the great subs that Kilkenny claimed to posses why did Brian Cody show so little faith in them not to make a change untill 63mins into the game  at that stage Cork were ramping there way to 29 all Ireland Titles.

If one more person rubs the cork win into the culchie gurl's face in this thread I shal not be impressed. Kilkenny may be loosers (of the All Ireland final for 2004) but the wee lass is not.

Im know she tells us insults make her more defiant (and thats the last thing we need) but its harly the point, this is not some playground.

I suggust you go to the kilkenny greatness thread for a bit of banter and slagging...as kenny the kat really set himself up there :)

Tipp, im dissapointed. show a bit of class, All im saying is there is a time and a place for rubbing Kilkenny;s nose in it. This is not the thread.

thats all I have to say on the matter, Im not speaking as a mod or anything but its my personal view that if this Kilkenny supporter is willing to take an all ireland loss on the chin we should be willing to show a little respect.

why thank you Alany... i went out in tipperary sunday nite and got the slagging that your talking about tipp top, tipperary are just as bad as kilkenny if not worse, seemed to be happy that we lost but at least we got to the All ireland. And as 1 Tipp "fan" said to me "Up Cork, Up Henry Shefflin" ah classic. And hey at least we have the Rose of Tralee! lol

Why would anyone leave their jacket off at a match if they were cold!!! I was there myself and it was nippy enough! Are the cork ones worse supporters because they wore a jumper on a cold day!! Jasus!!

Im sorry but I dont feel sorry for Kilkenny. As much as I admire them. And as much as I like the determination in Cork the last day number 29 isnt something that excites me.

I would of liked a good game of hurling though! Im looking forward to the new format next year.

Country_gurl, where were you sitting in the Cusack?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 339 ✭✭country_gurl

i was sitting in the upper cusack near the back just off the centre line... good enough view.
as for the cork jerseys i was just sayin that they were hiding their jerseys all the way through then they were very quick to take it off when the final few mins were left

i was in the Upper Cusack Section 703 row T. There was 2 Kilkenny girls behind us, they are without a doubt 2 of the best KK fans I have ever sat near. They were cheering and encouraging their team from start to finish (by that i mean the minor match as well), I know all fans should be like this but these 2 girls were magnificent, they drowned out most of the Cork 'supporters' even when they were getting the upper hand. They would have been in 703, row U seat 25 to 30 ish. Absolutely superb!!

The Cork lads are like Chameleons. I agree with you, All the red jerseys started appearing when they took the lead but where all nicley blended with their jackets when they were behind.

big ears .. its about time you started contributing more to this post besides little comment like that. If you disagree with darren why dont you explain why ?

Darren, has a fair point of view as he was at the game ( were you ?)

I was in Hill 16(nally terrace on my ticket) and there were by far way more cork people at the terrace. And all over the stadium. Only once could the killkenny fans be heard shouting "DJ DJ..." which was quicly drowned out by a roaring" Rebels Rebels...." from all around the stadium.

I have been to many many cork matches and it was one of the best cork support I have seen

The ratio of Cork fans to Killkenny was at least 3 to one.

    That says it all really.

FFS lads get a grip on yourselves, next you'll be saying my dad is bigger then your Dad. It was a cold day and I do not think you can criticise someone for wearing a jacket on such a poxy day. I was not at the game but I did watch it and both teams seemed to have a good support in the stadium.

I AGREE, ANTRIM FOR THE ALL IRELAND, AND IF THAT DOESNT HAPPIN, I LIKE TO SEE THE WATERFORDS BOYS GET A REWARD FOR THEIR MARVELLOUS HURLING BUT WOULD LOVE TO SEE THE CURRENT CROP OF GALWAY BOYS GET THIER HANDS ON LIAM. BUT WITH A BIT OF LUCK THE CATS WILL BE NOWHERE TO BE SEEN, HOPEFULLY AFTER A MAULING TO LAOIS OR WESTMEATH IN LEINSTER. THATD BE THE DAY HAHA

Does westmeath even have a team? Neway, Darren i was sitting near you! A bit behind "U" and i was number 16 or 18 cant remember. Not a bad view at all at all.
As for Cork support of course they are going to outnumber KK, was it on this board that someone said it has 5 times the population. Neway how is ever, Cork won no point mulling over it.
As for Antrim, I'd be going for Derry myself, always had a soft spot for the Derry hurling side for some reason!
And waylander my dad IS bigger than yours

Was anyone at the all ireland 7's before the final??

I had a smashing view in the upper canal, i thought it would be to my disadvantage and thought id be straining to see the action at the hill end but i cannot complain, I'm beginning to believe that you cannot get a bad seat at croker!!!

Westmeath have an up and coming hurling side, i saw them play down at ballycran not so long ago and they have some very good hurlers. The fact that they could get more competive games than other weeker counties ie, northern counties could allow for their development. And just for the record Westmeath had more wins in this years leinster championship than that great KK team I hear so much about!! ;-)

The Derry wans' aren't a bad lot, well the hurlers anyway!!

Does my use of the lower and upper case satisfy you now darren??? lol

My dad has hands like shovels and an arse the size of hill 16!!!

Thankfully your Dad is bigger then my dad, you win that one!

can i see the proof... i think my dad is bigger.
Well i learn something new everyday (a) poocher called the kk team great (I'll ignore the sarcasm) and (b) Westmeath have a hurling team... cool!
As for the mini 7's i didnt go but i will be at the minors on sunday yaaaay

p.s. what team are you for poocher?

p.s. what team are you for poocher?

If you mean what team im for in the minor, id have to say i always like to see galway do well, always had a soft spot for the tribesmen but do stand to recognise the great young talent the kilkenny minor and u-21 sides have at their disposal. The u-21s in particular on Saturday were deadly agianst tipp, and made them look like an average side.

Unlucky again on Sunday, a close match by all accounts! How ironic that a boy called Keith Kilkenny should score the deciding point!

For any of you who follow club hurling, ( i say this as most of the discussion seems to be about inter-county competition), you will know that dunloy, to their great credit, have domintated ulster hurling for virtually the last last decade, reaching 4 all ireland club finals but never succeeding at that final hurdle. Many thought that 2002 would be thier last chance but they bounced back reaching the final again last year, only to be beaten by newtownshandrum of cork, and those O' connor twins again! That may have been the side last chance as yesterday they were beaten by O' Donavan Rossa, 1988 All ireland Club finalists in the Antrim SHC Semi Final. Any offaly people will fondly remember their encounters with the vilagers, but you never know thaey could be back next year!

just had to pick up on that point...
this is what waterford have been saying nearly every year but unfortunately kilkenny are saying it this year, lets hope it'll ring true and we will lift the liam mccarthy once more in the hogan stand. Otherwise g'wan waaaterford boy

reaching the minor U 21 and Senior : thats impressive .
Only winning the U21 : thats poor .

Now if you'll excuse me Im deciding wheather or not to post a Tipperaary Camogie true greatness 1999-2004. Thats 5 out of the last 6 all-Irelands and we were in the final of the one we didn't win .

Nah I don't think I will , im not as arogent as some posters on this board .

Not as competitive as hurling but greatness it certainly is.
