Firstly I hate to say it, its absolutely nothing to do with Oceanfree, yes they could implement some spam protection etc, but its not like you are paying for the mail account is it?

If you have a virus, then it doesnt matter which email address you have they will still send from you pc. My advice is.

    1) Run Antivirus Norton, mcafee whoever, (Stinger is a free app from mcafee which removes quite a few virii
    2) Install Spybot Search & Destory (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/) and update it and run it.
    Remove any spyware
    3) Update your pc if possible
    4) I find using a filtering tool it will greatly reduce spam and virii. I recommend Presorium Frontgate Mx, www.presorium.com I went from about 100 spam a day to none on my oceanfree account, tis impressive stuff.

oceanfree.net ' s e-mail, online service is not the best, the thing to do is - set your oceanfree.net up on outlook, by - to do this...

1/tool, email accounts, add new email a/c, and fill it in
    2/ note:pop a/c, and tick - remember your password

    3/ pop mail.oceanfree.net
    4/mail1.eircom.net

    finish
    done

The best thing to do would be to not use oceanfree email. Their addresses seem to be spammed to no end.

    1. Ask somebody for a gmail invite.
    2. Set up account using said invite.
    3. Have no spam.
    4. ???????????????
    5. Profit!

The best thing to do would be to not use and oceanfree email

Or at least not use it as webmail and let your email client filter out all the spam. Works for me as my oceanfree email address is the oldest one I still use - have it nearly 10 years now

I use it for all on line registrations, etc. so yes I do get about 100 spam emails a day. About 95-100% of these are filtered out by Outlook 2003

surely the fact that mails are being sent from his account is down to the fact that his pc has pop access to the mail account?

get a firewall and stop your pc making connections you dont want.
then get an antivirus and fix your pc.
