First meeting for Dublin Airport Authority
    13 September 2004 18:33

The chairman of the new Dublin Airport Authority, Gary McGann, has said he will be as inclusive as possible when the new board formally takes up its role on 1 October.

He was speaking at the first meeting of the new board today.

There were no worker directors at today's meeting. The Minister for Transport, Seamus Brennan, said his department was attempting to 'put together a mechanism' to allow worker directors to be appointed to the board before October.

The minister has also instructed the incoming board to examine the proposal for a second terminal at the airport. However, he said a firm decision was still 'some months away'.

The Dublin Airport Authority will take over the functions of Aer Rianta next month.

It will liaise with the new boards of Shannon and Cork to decide how the assets of the State airports company will be broken up and come up with separate business plans for each airport.
