eek summats just died on me and i dont know wot!

right building my server..had mobo/ram/cpu/hsf/psu/vid card...all in and waiting..just needed to get some drives...put my old 4x dvd burner in and my 2 200gb WD's came today

well to my shock..ive wired it all turned it on..all fans power up..and..welllll...about 2 seconds later it just switches itself off :eek: ..press power button nothing...take cable out of psu put it back..turn power on...2 seconds then off...now before you ask what my psu is..its a q-tec 500watt thingy..and your all about to say theres the culprit...and id be inclined to agree if it wasnt for the fact it use to run my..what is secondary pc now for 8 months fine...now its running a lower spec machine..albeit with more hard drive space...and it just dies on me?!

ive got a few generic psus lying around ill give a go..i guess...but im pissed off! i defended q-tecs as hes never died on me and the cheap bastard goes now... !

if it could be anything else..could ye tell me what else it could be..ive checked all the cables and they all seem fine..gotta buy an ide cable now :eek: all my motherboard boxes and i cant find a normal or rounded 1..anywhere...until then my optical is a no go...but...wtf is going on here! damn you to hell q-tec! (it seems)

just put some 400watt thing in

boots up great...it will do im not forking out for a good psu only for a server this seems good

ill install windows tomorrow check out rails and stuff...cant be bothered now gotta get up at 6:40 :eek:
