    From Trektoday.com

After a career in television spanning many decades, William Shatner won an Emmy Award last night for his guest role as Denny Crane on ABC's The Practice.

"What took you so long?" Shatner joked with the crowd during his acceptance speech, reported Variety (via Yahoo!). A previous Emmy nominee for Third Rock from the Sun, Shatner has earned numerous lifetime achievement prizes and a Saturn Award for playing James T. Kirk, but this was the first time he received the highest honour of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

The Creative Arts Awards, which include trophies for guest stars, technical innovations and makeup and costuming, were given out last night at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. A two-hour highlights show will air Sept. 18 on E!

The Primetime Emmy Awards, which will be presented next week live on ABC, include the acting awards for series regulars and the trophies for the best series and specials of the year.
    There ye go...

I'm actually not as keen on TOS as I am on later ST incarnations but I have to say that shatner is a really cool actor. He has great presence. He was cool in 3rd Rock for example.

I also saw him in a cameo role in some film about 2 guys in their 20s who were trying to sort out their lives - they met him in a bookstore and got his autograph or something. Anyone know what film this is? (Twas showing on Sky Digital a few years back).

That's Free Enterprise. Where he does the bizaare rap version of Shakespeare. It's a pretty **** film unfortunately, Shatner's bits are the only decent bits.

    Thanks!

I don't remember it all that well but I enjoyed it as it was a bit odd and the main characters liked comics which is something I can dig!
