Hey can anybody please give me some advice???

i have an old dell laptop(latitude) which has no cd rom,ive tried to use my zip drive on this but it wont recognise it for some reason(its using windows NT if that has anything to do with it) and most external cd-roms need a cd to install the drivers and i only have a 3 1/2 " floppy drive??
i only really want to install a few programmes on this laptop and use the net via eircom broadband but i cant even install the driver fot the broadband modem. Im at a deadend and any suggestions at all would be greatly appreciated even a link to a website would be great!!
    thanks in advance :D

    Hi,

You want to get a little program called "fastlynx" http://www.checkmark.com.au/fastlynx.htm (works on NT) and attach the Dell by serial or parallel cable to a PC...there are restrictions on the demo version but you can break up files to work round that (see below)...

Serial cable IS A PAIN :(

Another option is to break up the files to be small enough to fit on a floppy using a file compression utility such as winzip or winrar...( winrar will fit on a floppy http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm winzip will not ), then you just copy from PC to floppy and paste from floppy to lappy...

    :D
Mechanima isn't a *man* ... but very helpful all the same LOL

There's that way, and then there's a really nice way if you have access to another computer. Buy yourself a external housing for a 2.5" disk (I bought 3 on Ebay for about a tenner each), pull out the disk, and stick whatever files you want on (I'd suggest drivers galore).
Otherwise, stick a network card in it (€25 from Komplett or about €40 from IT Direct if you're in a rush), and connect to another PC or network that way.
