Not sure if this is the right place to post this but I couldn't think of anywhere else.
A good friend of mine recently moved back to Germany and I don't have his email address. He was to call me from the airport to say good-bye and I missed his call and now I feel that he thinks I missed it on purpose (it is something I've done in the past) but it really was a mistake. So I think he's not contacting me because of this... so anyway I would like to get his email address but I don't know how to go about finding it..... any clues. I've tried guessing... but they all bounce back.

do you know where he's working/studying?
If you can't guess his e-mail from the standard format you could try actually writing a letter and posting it.

who do you know that also knows him?

have you tried texting him or ringing him on the old number - chances are he'll check his old phone a few times a week for the first while anyway.

yea, I left a voice mail and sent a text the first week he was gone. But I work for vodafone and I checked his phone and the handset was bared, so I don't know if he got it.
I'm afraid I don't have the address of where he's working so the letter writing option is out.
Maybe he dosen't want me to contact him... I guess I should think of that too. I mean he does have all my contact details

Do you know where he's working though?
You may be able to find the address?

Even badly addressed letters s-mail often get there because the human input means that people get found.

Be very careful where you say that...

Is there anyone you could contact who might know his e-mail address? You must have some mutual acquaintance you could get in touch with.

Nah it's not... its just a web page that you can look up mobile numbers and see if they are on line or not... its not actually giving out details or anything.Vodafone are very secure about customer info so there's no need to worry

It can still be classed as misuse of customer account info for non-business related reasons... I know people who've been done for that, in fact, I fired a few ;)

FYI : I found two really good web sites that I think have helped me locate the person I'm looking for. One is http://www.infospace.com and the other is http://www.theultimates.com/email/
They have allowed me to send an email without actually seeing the email address. So if it is him then I should get a mail back soon enough. Fingers crossed :D

I'm sorry but a couple of things dont seem right.
How can he be your "good" mate? You ignore his calls and don't know anything about him i.e family, friends in Ireland who will have his contact info.

Also how weird is it to ignore calls from your so called best mates?

Finally if I moved to Germany and some person I didn't want to hear from found my contact information from working in Vodafone. I'd be pissed. Pissed enough to complain.

I didn't ignore his call.... I missed it.
He was to call me from the airport to say good-bye and I missed his call and now I feel that he thinks I missed it on purpose
In the past I had ignored his calls because we used to go out and then we stopped and he deserved to have his calls ignored. We then became friends again but did not get back together.
I know plenty about his family ( Just his mum who moved back to Germany with him) Friends - there were all work buddies and I never got to know them well enough to have contact details for them. If I bumped into them I'd be able to ask them how he is and for an email address/phone number but how likely is that.
And finally, I didn't look up his details on the system.. I already had his Irish mobile number and I just checked to see if it was still on-line or not. This is a very simple site that can be looked up to see if a handset is on or not, it gives out no information on the person that owns it. If you know a mobile number that's still the same amount of information you have after you've looked up if it's on or not... get it??
