Best/Favourite Singer

There always seems to be threads concerning people's opinions on the best guitarist and to a lesser extent best drummer (usually John Bonham :) )

So to put a different swing on things, who do ye think is the best or your favourite vocalist. I'm not gonna make it into a poll 'cos there's just too many damn options.

    For example:-

AC/DC :- Brian Johnson or Bon Scott?
Black Sabbath:- Ozzy or Dio (Is there any contest?)
    Robert Plant
James Hetfield (back in the day, not so much now though.)
Dave Grohl (to cover drums and guitar while singing also!) Probably playing the Bavarian cheese-whistle while he's at it :D
    Phil Anselmo
    Axl Rose
    Phil Lynott
    Steven Tyler
    Justin Hawkins

    Any ideas?

Yeah, this thread probably HAS been done to death already.....

Billy Corgan, he can sing in practically any style and gives real feeling to a song. Not so sure about Zwan though!

Nick Cave - great voice and his lyrics are easily the best from the last 30 years (barring a few bits from the last album perhaps)

Maynard James Keenan (Tool/APC) - Now he can sing!

Jonsí (Sigur Rós)- £%$$&^^*^*^*(&*%$$(^& £)&*(_*$%^$%*. Yes, that good.

Fenriz writes the lyrics but he doesn't sing, it's Nocturno Culto who does the vocal duties in Darkthrone. And personally, I thought Atilla Csizar (Sp?) was a much better vocalist than Dead.

    As for myself...

Kriss Rigg for his work with Arcturus mainly, but also Ulver and Borknagar.
    Mikael Akerfeldt of course.

Loads others I could mention tbh.

I think Greg Graffin, while not a great vocalist, has some really cool ideas that kind of merit a mention as well.

yeah, I love billy corgan's voice too.. apart from that really raw sounding almost croaking/whining voice that you'd normally associate with corgan, he definitely showed on Adore that apart from the screaming rock vocals, his voice on some of those tracks are so much more gentle.. excellent stuff

Patton is an excellent singer alright but I've heard many a vocalist who would easily blow him out of the water, so to speak. He still deserves a mention though, he definetly had an nice quality to his voice.
