PC powering up mysteriously

My sister's PC has started booting itself up after it has been shut down. It can happen immediately, more usually about 30 seconds after powering down and sometimes several minutes later. I have tried removing the power switch connector on the motherboard and it still boots up, so it is not a faulty switch on the case. There are no problems with the power on - i.e. it doesn't reboot while in use- problem only occurs when it is powered off.
Motherboard is an abit nf7s, power supply is a qtec. Has anyone ever had a problem like this before?

Check if you have "wake on lan" or "wake on modem" enabled in your bios as my brothers pc used to start up if the phone rang.

Only thing Ive heard of like that was a guy with a high powererd amp. Your sis got anything like that nearby? Might even be something in the next room.

I have an abit motherboard that did that to me, but i can't remember how i got around it. But i do know its a common problem, although google didn't sort me out. If it comes back to me, ill post the solution here.
I have an inkling its a bios setting problem

I checked the bios settings already and there was no 'wake on' settings enabled, but I'll recheck tomorrow to be sure. There's nothing like a high powered amp around. Thanks for the help so far....

Sounds like a Bios config issue, altho it may be the Qtec PSU...

i always wondered about those Wake on settings and it sounds like thats what is happening. You can have wake on mouse and wake on keyboard, that could be the problem. You should have another look.

    I forth that!

It could be the qtech powering on slightly, and the motherboard starting up then. Friend of mine was recommended to get a qtech PSU by a (usually!) very knowledgable friend. Its already acting up, less than 2 weeks later :p He;s getting constant restarts :(

Further to Paddy's suggestion, also check that it is not starting up when the mouse is clicked.

This feature can be turned off in the Bios check the motherboard manual on how to do this..

Found my one had this feature, took a while to figure it out though.

Ok, I've checked all the bios options this evening and all 'Wake' settings are disabled. Power on is set to Button Only, so it's not keyboard or mouse. I don't have a spare power supply handy, so will have to take one from another PC to test this out. I'll aim to do tomorrow and let you know how I get on.
    Thanks.
