    Dublin North eh ?

The UK stopped using VHF for TV a very long time ago. So that leaves UHF which is more or less, line of sight to the transmitter.

    So not much chance.

On the map below your aerial indoor aerial would be Yellow or Green

Unless you are using a HUGE antenna on a TALL Aerial this is the coverage you will get with a Large Antenna and a good amplifier

Dublin North is a bit vague.
It might be possible to get BBC1/2 UTV Ch4 with a large amplified rooftop aerial, have a look at your neighbours and see if any have aerials pointing north. If they do then ask to look at their picture, even if you can get reception it isn't likely to be great.

my neighbours have a big outdoor aeral and the picture is good but i don't want to get the same one because it's massive.

If thats what it takes to get it at your neighbours house, then thats what you have to get. In local areas, all the aerials tend to look the same.
