He could be talking about Wizards of the coast who aren't having a good time of it lately.

As for is the game dead? Doubtful.

I doubt he knows what he is talking about really, AD&D is too big to die at this stage, I'd say it has a larger and more dedicated following than any other really.

some games may fall from grace, but the genre will never die. whether it be true hardcore stylings or the UO's and everquests. they just go to prove how strong it is with people forking out alot of cash to play them.

    [edit]
ok this may just be elitiest of me... but why is it that when anybody new ever reg's here one of the first things they do is go on a "This is crap" or "You're all wrong spree"

do they all have the need to challange things just for the sake of it? to make them selves stand out.

Rumours that Wizards of the coast (wotc) are going down the tubes are well over the top.

They were forced by hasbro to cut about 150 staff because HASBRO turned in bad year ends, while wotc themselves were chugging away.

Most of the reason for this is that Pokemon is dying out, and a large amount of wotc affiliated people in this department were laid off, as will happen with any "kid craze".

Overall, of their other flagship games Magic: the gathering continues just as strong and has seen worldwide competition prize support triple in the last year to over $3 million, and the newest edition of D&D has been well accepted well and is selling strong.
