    Ok ..
This is a game that doesnt 'need' any external software, it might 'seem' boring to some, but believe me, its the most addictive thing you'll legally do.

1: You telnet to a mud, BUT telnet sucks ass, do a search online for "mud client" and download a client (Zmud is the best, if you can get version 4.X get it .. version 5+ is too messy with registration)

2: When you create a character, read up on the help
    type help

3: Talk to people, use who, tell, say
    who shows all players online
tell sends a message to a player
    eg. tell lordkhan hiya darling

    LordKhan would see something like
    Balmark tells you: hiya darling

say tells everyone in the same room as you something, type look to see who is in the room with you.

sc shows your score and i shows your inventory.
    you can look at thing
    you can exa thing (examine)
    and you can l thing

    eg.
    exa box
    exa balmark
    l at box

I'm not sure if there's a consider command on this mud? (cant check till finish work really wink.gif .. but if there is, you might be able to consider monsters to see if they are within your level to kill wink.gif

    consider butterfly
(might reply with *A Perfect Match*)

    consider dragon
(might reply with *Towers over you*)

    Tired of typing wink.gif

    Balmark

Hmmm, this would be the original MUD aka British Legends right? Thought no one is running a MUD server anymore and everyone had moved to to MUD2...like 10 years ago =)

not exactly a 'serious' mud but quite nice -www.runescape.com
its graphical rather than text (3d with 2d sprites)and it's point and click rather than command/alias based but otherwise quite cool.
oh and its java based and runs within your browser...which is nice wink.gif
(at least for now anyway,as the dumb 12yr old kid quotient is gradually getting bigger;< )
