I'm just wondering are we going to see PCI-E take over. If so surely buying an AGP card means that when you decide to upgrade Mobo and CPU you may find that PCI-E is the cutting edge. Should we all be waiting for PCI-E to take over before buying these lovely monster video cards?

More than happy with buying an AGP card at the moment. I'm not upgrading my computer any time soon so I've no interest in waiting. There's always something new though.

Should I not buy a 6800 GT graphics card cause there'll be a new one out in a few months/etc. How about not buying a new computer/case cause BTX is gonna replace ATX? (In case you don't know there actually is a BTX coming out :P )

Get my point? Fast moving industry. PCI-E are out and slowly rolling out which is good. A lotta people will buy an AGP card around this time because the prices drop etc. I'm more likely to buy an Athlon XP and DDR 400 than an A64/Prescott and DDR 2.

Most people believe that we wont see benefits from PCI-E for a while yet. Year or 2 perhaps. Because games out there aren't using the full bandwidth available to them in AGP x8. I dunno really. Better cards will be coming out of course but current PCI-E are only 128mb. I don't remember seeing any 256mb ones. I'm sure there will be soon if there aren't already but I'd prefer the extra ram!
