As for D2, it's not really an RPG more a hack and slash. Least that's the impression I got from playing it.

there is no way in hell Diablo 2 is a
RPG, i watch these two oriental guys play
in netshop and they just sit there for hours doing nothing but

they dont even interact with the other players online.

In fact if you were to sit in UO for 12 hours mining (without macroing) then it would be like Diablo2 and im not joking.

I gave my copy away. too shallow for my liking. If you're going to play hack and slash, play Rogue - It was more fun.
I doubt anyone remembers that little gem.

I love that game.
It's one of the most addictive game ever. I personaly hold it in higher esteem than BG1 (I haven't got bg2 yet).
Also, it is an RPG.

Not being smart just, if you mean the first, I won't argue 'cos I don't know what that is. If, however, you mean the latter...

RPG, Role Playing Game. Playing a character. The "things" in D2 don't have a character. THe interaction between the lead and the flavour people is minimal and very linear. Choices are kept to a minimum, combat is the main element f the game.

I enjoy D2, it's mindless fun but to call it a RPG makes almost every game out there an RPG. Gauntlet had more roleplaying than Diablo

I'll tell you what really ****ed me off about this game. Blizzard spent 5 years uprading a map editer, and then they simply just made a huge game out of it. Baldur's Gate (Not BG 2, the first one) looks better than it and BG is a year and a half older than it. I still ot playability out of it but it annoys me that they made a ame that I'd rate at about 60% wen they could have made it a 90% or 100% game.

Oh well, there's always the BG line of products.

I disagree with all of you:
Baldurs Gate(1) is the biggest pile of sh1te i have ever had the misfortune of playing, i like role-playing games but that game was just awful and boring and long and CR^P!

Diablo 2 on the other hand ,while not a real RPG ,is immense fun ,as is its prequel.And it does have more role-playing than Gauntlet ,especially eith the quests and all those magic items to pick-up.

baldurs gate 1 was excellent.
it ran on virtually the same combat system as real roleplaying and was the closest representation of it to record.
the graphics were great,the game long and difficult and the range of weapons/magic and characters was great.
how can u say u like RPG's and not this.
and its deffinetly not sh1te

I just bought D2 after playing it a bit in a cyber caf. Yep, it's NOT a roleplaying game but it *is* fun (and has pretty colours).

As for it being a shootem up .. yep. I agree, but some of the most fun games I've played were shoot'em ups.

bah, u'lls soon be bored of D2,
it iz completely linear, there iz no multiple endings no different paths just the same quests over and over again, playin it on nightmare difficulty iz the same xcept much more annoying, on-line gaming involves (if u r not playin with b.net characters) a hell of a lot of cheating and higher level characters waiting outside the towns to kill u and steal all ure hard earned gold.

attempting to do quests on-line iz also sh!te, ure map gets wiped every time and if u get dropped from a game u have to start again, massive lags mean that battling with the large amounts of creatures that are usually quite easy loses u a load of gold.

there would b more bad points i could think of if i could be @rsed but in contrast to wot i just said it iz a good game for a while, some thinking iz involved and i did enjoy playing it 4 a while

final fantasy 7 is and always will be the best RPG ! 2nd best is broken sword 1 , 3rd is diablo 1!
