Myself and the GF are off to London for a weekend in October. Can anyone recommend a hotel for me. Nothing too expensive however this is a special weekend but were on a budget. Location doesn't matter so long as it's safe and accessible by the London underground.

    Thanks in advance.

I stayed here a few months ago, when i went over for the grand prix. Its a lovely hotel (four star), very close to the underground (its just across the road) and pretty much all other modes of transport.

I stayed in the "Ibis Earls Court" recently and it was great value (I think anyway) at £80 per room per night

It's two minutes walk from West Brompton Tube station and the front of Earls Court. Also, if you are flying into Gatwick you can get a train direct from the airport to West Brompton Rail station and save £5 each way on the price of the Gatwick Express.

The nightbus (if you need it) from Central London (Picadilly) stops right outside the hotel and only costs a pound!

Have a look at this site http://www.londonnights.com , i would recommend Regent Palace as it is smack bang in Piccadilly Circus where everything centres around. Just checked room rates are only £59.

Sorry for hi-jacking you thread but I have a quick london question! Which is the handier Airport to fly to for getting into the city, Gatwick or Stansted?

    Thanks, BM.

Gatwick would be much handier (and takes less time) than Stanstead

I stayed here . Its just off Oxford Street (where all the shops are) & is one of the few hotels in London to have a swimming pool....rates are good aswell.
Not the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in but it did the job

I'm heading to London next Feb and have booked www.stylotel.com
It looks nice (I like blue!!) and is in a good location, and not too expensive.

I know its not what you want (others who were drawn to this thread may find it useful) but Travelodge ( http://www.travelodge.co.uk/ ) have a "tennertastic" promotion on at the mo whereby you can get rooms for ... a tenner sterling.

I booked the one is Islington for a night in January and we're getting a doubleroom for that price
