    Does anyone know if you can install programs on an external hard drive

    you can install programs on an external harddive.
    avoid ones that start on windows startup.

    You should be able to, as long as you remember that any registry entries are going to be written to the version of Windows you are using when you install. All in all, its unrecommendable.

    I've never tried but I doubt there would be any trouble with that.


    I know you can install windows on an external HDD.
