Something I wanted to do for quite a while. I have access to a projector that can work with a pc but I'm issing the connection I need to put them together. The projector is a Davis CinemaOne. Any idea's what I should be looking for as for the life of me I can't determine what the connection is?

here is a link with info on it. Sorry could not find a link with pictures of the connector.

I can give a description of the connection on the porjector. Its shaped like a scart socket and from the left hand side most of the way across to thr right it has a row of square pin sockets 10 across and 3 down in a column so its 30 in total. On the right hand side just after the pins stop there is a 4 more square shaped pin sockets in a square centered in reamaing room between the right hand side and other rows and columns of pin sockets.

Best plan would be to draw/copy/take photo of the back of the projector and the back of your PC and walk into peats or something and say "I want this (show pic of PC) to connect to this (show pic of projector)". :) Or if you have a graphics card with an S-Video socket (You can see a pic here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S-Video), then you could get an s-video to scart plug and that might work.

Well by looking at that box, it doesn't look like you have a scart socket. (/me should have read 2nd post), though Capt'n Midnight, you probably should have included a link or something.

Thats a DVI Socket. Some projectors accept vga through their DVI socket, you just need a VGA>DVI cable.

If the projector doesn't support this you will have to buy a converter like the one Capt posted or just buy a cheap gfx card with a DVI out.

Yeah the connection Capt'n Midnight posted is the one on the projector. So it should be a vga to dvi I need.

This is a link from komplett would the dvi to vga be okay its the fifth one down

You sure the projector can take a vga signal through the dvi port, it doesn't say anything about it on the website.

You see thats the thing it says nothing. In the manual it just shows a pc/mac adapater from a horizontal view (does not show the connections). It must work with a pc somehow as there is a pc button on the monitor and the store we purchased it from a while back said it worked with pc's.

I went back to the projector and had another look. The connection is about 1.5cm longer than the DVI connection on my graphics card. There two different sizes but have almost the same connections. The DVI on the gaphics card has 24 socket pins while the one on the projector takes 30. But the format is almost identical

Both the graphics card in my computer and the projector can take super video. Wonder if I tried that will it work or will it preduce the wrong signal.

All you graphics cards should have svideo out if you want to try that on it. But it will prob give you a crappy picture.

thats a P&D connector, often confused with DVI. Its more or less DVI with extra pins for firewire and or USB for use with macs.

ive been looking for an adpator of this type for a while. All I could find was stuff in the states:

    P&D to DVI: http://www.digitalconnection.com/products/video/dvipnd.asp
    P&D(M) to VGA (F): http://store.kayye.com/kayye/vgafetoevma.html

    the whole frickin lot: http://www.google.ie/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&q=P%26D+to+VGA&btnG=Search&meta=

    hope this helps

I will try the super video connection. If not I will have to keep looking for this connection.

Tried super video picture was not great was too soft not very sharpness. Was impossible to read anything except at point blank range. But boy oh boy did it luck really good enlarge. If this P&D connector gives me a better picture I might get it........anyone know if it will give me a better picture.

yes, the P&D will help a lot!

Svideo was only ever ment for TV, which is really low res.

I find even VGA connection is a vast improvement over Svideo

Thxs I will order one then. I'm looking forward to getting one so I can play Doom III in a pitch dark room with a 6 foot screen and proper home cinema equipment. Wonder if doom III supports 5.1 dolby digital or DTS?
