"Send in your favorite games or purchase them from Alienware and your ALX technician will install, update, and optimize up to 3 of them on your system free of charge. If you decide to send them in, you will be provided with a shipping label and Alienware pays for the shipment. Your games will be returned to you along with your ALX system."
very nice of them all the same, but you'd expect it for that price. :D

actually for that price, i'd expect them to have completed the game for me. :D

the best bit is at the bottom where the price tag is -- $5,458 -- as low as $164 per month! Pretty low right? As long as you don't forget you'll be paying it for 33months.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,942 ✭✭✭Mac daddy

And if you miss one payment they will come along and take the puter of you

is the alx version only available in the states? it doesn't seem to be on the uk site.

Do they give a reason or try to justify why there prices are so god damn outragous.

i dunno about beauty, there's something about a coloured plasticy fugly case that doesn't match up to aliminuim(sp.) cases.

i agree with the name and 1 dead pixel policy though

true but those EE cpus and the 3.8-4.0ghz ones cost an absolute fortune

the warranty on them is supposed to be snazzy too, still dear though

If you bought one you would get a 3 year warranty anyway, **** alienware.

All it is is an overclocked 3.2 or 3.4 which you could pick up for about 700 euro new.

You really could build the same system for 2 grand less - your nice dead pixel warranty and good customer service.

what really makes me hurl is that pc gamer rants on about them all the time.
I mean they aren't even the quitest rig around.
That plastic molding must account for at least a grand.
Should come with a free t-shirt saying "I've just been f**ked by an alien".....
..come to think of it let the daft c**ts pay for the t-shirts lol

the funniest thing is, that price excludes monitor, speakers and even keyboard and mouse!
Not even a keyboard and mouse!!

Like having a ferrari with no steering wheel. "sorry sir, the steering wheel is an extra 45k"

Please remember, people, that a small pertenage of gamers in the US send thair PC to a vendor like Alienware every 6 months, and tell them to "put every new piece of kit on it"...!
So there is a market. A full "upgrade" may cost over $1,500, and you know how cheap the stuff in the US is!

    Its a 3.8 overclocked.

Have you people even used a top of the range Alienware machine who gives a sh1t if you can build cheaper they are sheer quality and the scores you get from benchmarks anybody want to put there machine up against an alienware machine head to head is go to have a very tough job beating it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,558 ✭✭✭CyberGhost

well maybe Dell Dimension XPS will have trouble beating it, but I'm sure a custom would beat it!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,225 ✭✭✭Ciaran500

Does anyone have links to a alienware review by a reputable reviewer? Most of the reviews on the alienware website were done by FHM, Mens Journal, Playboy?, PC Gamer, PC Zone. None of which I would trust.

I think he meant the EE is an overclocked 3.2 or 3.4. Then Alienware overclocks it to 4.0. :D

    no

alienware costs so much because they don't release in the same volume as a dell or other computer companies, dell can afford to sell cheap but alienware can't!

    There is no 3.8ee, only a 3.2 and a 3.4 like I said.

You sir are clearly an idiot. Give me 5.5g's and i'll build one that knocks the socks off it and throw in a 21" lcd with low response times to boot.

So a custom system, built with the same parts (but for less money), won't beat it? Do they sprinkle fairy dust on the PCs or something?

You can build a monster monster system for the money they charge that will outperform their PCs (think phase change, top end parts, etc).

Lol no, to build a pc you don't.

A friend of mine got a job out there and he never got his leaving cert. He just knows about pc's.

I have 2 years of college in a computing course and a good knowledge of pc's so I should get it.
