I shall be living in the Big Smoke as of next week for University, looking for the best spots to head to. 4 of us living together, all from Athlone so we'll probably pass out with shock at drink prices in some of these places. And we'd prefer places that don't say "Not tonight lads" to every second person trying to get in. We'll mostly be looking for places that are good during the week, Sun night-Thurs night. But next Saturday we might be staying in the city so tips for then will be welcome too.

    WHAT?

theres no night clubs in the capital, they all got shut down because of the foot and mouth thing.

    tba, stop teasing!

well, off the top of my head there is

Somewhere where there's a fairly young crowd. Definitely nowhere that's gonna be over 23's or any of that crap. Somewhere where the drink isn't ridicolously expensive and there's lots of good-looking friendly women. (If such a place exists)

under 23 you say, well never EVER go to sach's.... (grab a granny)

the sort of place your thinking is fireworks, qbar, coyote, red's and red box..... tbh

altho once your in the city center, drinks ae going to be pricey....
you want anymore info feel free to pm me...

your from the country, copper face jacks is the only way.

also, do you have a preference for music, or just to get plastered?

Good music and good atmosphere is the main thing. Pints for less than a fiver would be great in the case of superpubs. With nightclubs the drink prices aren't so important cuz I wouldn't touch nightclub Guinness with a 10-foot pole.

Your gonna end up going to the usual places.
    Coyote,Boomerangs (wednesday) or Fireworks
Red Box usaully has the best student night..In my experience anyway
All the drinks will be expensive...Although ya get some ok student offers..
But one thing thats a certains is that everywhere will be a manFest
Most of the places are most of the time 70/30 men to women

Check out Bondi Beach in Stillorgan, few miles outside the City Centre. Thursday's and Sunday's all drinks are 3 Euro - usually end up spending the same but tend to fall out of the place. It's not a bad place either has the beach theme going on, full of youngters, bit of a laugh.

Hmmm... fireworks? coyote? redz? red box? Sounds like a list of the worst, most skangery clubs in Dublin to be honest....! Sorry!

The best clubs are places like The Kitchen, The Gaiety, Sugar Club, and then the late bars like Ron Blacks, Renards etc. But then thats just my opinion, eh?

If you get homesick go to Rody Bolands and then Tramco, both in Rathmines. They are like the bogger enclaves in the middle of student suburbia, along the lines of the Vatican City model, but a hell of a lot less pure.
